Big Breakfast wasn't really rigid like that and was ever-so-popular in its time? I keep feeling/hoping that this new show is going to be closer to BB than Breakfast.

Whatever ITV do, they'd be wise to stick to a strictly timed format. God knows that's what working people need in the morning.

Absolutely, that's a basic for both TV and radio in the morning. The other one is that items need to be fairly short as people are coming and going.

But I'm sure the production team will know that, they've been doing GMTV for long enough

Yes it was, it had regular features at regular times.

I remember having it on in the mornings and knew that if I saw Snap Crackle and Pop (at about 8:15 I think) I was late!

I don't understand why Breakfast has such good ratings really. Awful male presenter in the form of Bill Turnbull, even Adrian is better than him.

Perhaps you're too young to appreciate him.

Because it does the job it's supposed to do. GMTV - well, nobody knows what the hell that show's supposed to be. Breakfast - it's reliable, it's newsy, it's not condescending and there are none of these w*nky competitions with p*ss-easy questions. It treats its audience with respect.

Unfortunately GMTV/ITV/Daytw*t or whatever it'll be called are too greedy for an audience to treat them with any sort of respect.

Come off it! Bill never takes himself seriously, but has a serious, experienced journalist background.

Adrian, meanwhile, is god-damn ugly, and has poor interviewing technique. He isn't likeable, can't connect with the viewer and is just generally awful.

Neither Adrian or Christine are particularly skilled or fantastic at journalism. They're only average.

They used to repeat that item though. It was originally shown in the first hour and repeated later on.

Not so much in the Johnny and Denise days, but in the early days it was very structured. For me it was the competition then off too school.

not sure there's actually much proper 'journalism' on Breakfast these days

First of all, I find it quite lame to mention age - age has nothing to do with the programme I prefer to watch in the morning. Lately, its been Sunrise. I never claimed GMTV was wonderful - I also wasn't saying Breakfast is boring because of its format. The thing I find with Breakfast is that, its too serious. On a morning its nice to have that relaxed feel, and you get that with GMTV, and more recently, Sunrise.

As for Bill Turnbull, on my above point, his jokes seem very awkward. He himself, as a journalist, is very experienced and I didn't say he wasn't. I just don't find him appealing.

That's irrelevant, it was still a fixed event in the programme. It was presumably on twice because no-one watched the whole programme
