Did they use locations at the TOTH V/O yesterday? I can't remember it. But there was this morning. Bit of a mouthful though - "You're watching GMTV, with Kate Garraway in London, Ben Shephard in South Africa and John Stapleton in Westminster"

They did at 7am, with the studio camera pulling back to include John Stapleton & Ben Shephard on the plasma screen.

Your TVF neck is now officially on the line, Anoilyrag, if the new programme is deemed a failure! Wink

Face... bovvered?
In all seriousness, I'm also hearing BBC Breakfast are planning a relaunch from September. More news content, same presenters, same studio, new graphics.
My money is on the one which is spending £10m on presenters, studio, branding/titles, new management.

Won't it be awful though when you have to do a rebrand in December?

I wish more people would give this launch a chance. Remember, this is not just GMTV with a new set, or a new name. It is a brand new programme, which sounds very different from GMTV. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe it's a bad thing. Just give it a chance. While GMTV has its flaws, and many people don't like it, this new show could be very good. ITV seem committed and I'm actually liking Daybreak now.

I like Daybreak - Its really growing on me! Sounds much nicer than GMTV which sounds almost like a disease?
As far as the new look is concerned...

Is the music brand new, a remix of the GMTV theme or a remix of the ITV News theme?
I know they are moving studio, but will a set be built into the studio. eg. Framework around the glasswalls?
Will the show be anchored from a sofa or desk?
Will there be a separate news presentation space or will there be no need for a dedicated news presenter as the anchors will be rolling the news out like in BBC Breakfaast??

Back to today and I think Kate has been doing well on her own although I don't think there is a need for such a long winded voice over at TOTH. 'You're watching GMTV with Kate Garraway' is sufficient imho.

If the person I think is doing the music, it will be good.

.... which is why it's such a risk for ITV

The new programme could work totally from day 1 but it would be rare. If it doesn't it will either evolve until it does or there will be a day zero relaunch some months later

BTW, Who are you thinking will do it? Obv not as good as David Lowe.

It will take a lot to equal or better BBC Breakfast. They need to offer something completely unique (not a copy of Breakfast) for people to switch.

Breakfast has everything it needs to have, without Daybreak copying. LIKEABLE presenters, news, sport, business, regional news and entertainment.

It's going to take a lot to sway me, given that they're employing the most ugly man on telly (what a view at 6am!), and a fish face (who has no degree or journalist experience/qualifications).

What will this show offer that Breakfast doesn't already? You see exactly how bad GMTV was. £10m, and Breakfast are just changing their titles. It says a lot!!

exactly, some people are saying it's going to fail before it's even lauched! Give it a chance for god sake!

Who's that then?

Breakfast is a winning formula, for me anyway.

I like the rigid timings too - I know exactly when to leave for work with the arrival of the regional news. Don't even need to refer to my watch.

If I'm watching the "big" interview then I'm already late.. Embarassed

Whatever ITV do, they'd be wise to stick to a strictly timed format. God knows that's what working people need in the morning.
