Its going to be interesting. If ITV are trying to make it more newsy, while maintaining the current demographic, it could end in disaster. People like the iconic red sofa, which I doubt they'll keep. People don't really like change, and I think this change could be just too much. They don't want to change everything but I bet they will!

Well I reckon its the BBC that moved fast to reveal they'd withdrawn the offer before GMTV could announce she had chosen to go with them.

I wonder which way round it was

Did they withdrew the offer for being indiscreet and then she signed for ITV and then they released the news today
or
Did she sign for ITV and then the BBC withdrew their offer and then released the news today

I assume that the beeb announced it early leading ITV to follow up

But GMTV is not obscurity.

It is for the millions who have got far better things to do than watch TV in the mornings.

Fair enough. Although I haven't watched breakfast television in years, I'm still aware of who presents GMTV and always have been. The coverage in the press surrounding any departure/movement at GMTV makes sure of that. I appreciate your view though. Agree to disagree on this one.

Who were incredibly unlikely to make the announcement on a Sunday evening. I think Penny Smith would be ideal for The One Show, and I don't think it's a show that relied on Christine and Adrian. I think it relied on having decent presenters and I think the likes of Penny Smith could continue that.

No great surprise really. I was never a fan of Adrian on The One Show, but he does have great chemistry with Christine. I guess ITV would maybe keep Crosby for relief...she is cheaper than Garraway.

Seems to me that the BBC got word that Bleakley had done the deal with ITV and tried to spoil it, by publishing the withdrawal of offer release, in a saving face with the chattering classes, move.

That's a goodbye then to Kate Garraway IMO.

I think Emma and Helen will be the ones to stick around. If Emma doesn't move to ITV News.

I suspect Emma will leave GMTV and join ITV News as their lunchtime host, though the story will be sold as "Emma joins ITV News" rather than "Emma leaves GMTV", and that Helen will be Christine's main stand-in. Anyone have any ideas of who will be Adrian's stand-in, seeing as both Andrew and Ben are leaving?

I think Kate will leave and end up off-contract with ITV, probably appearing as a regular on Loose Women and the like.

and the millions who have got far better TV to watch in the mornings.

I can see this being played out in the press as being a battle between The All New GMTV and The All New One Show even though they are obviously not directly in competition for viewers. Of course, the papers will decide on the 'winner' and then report accordingly.
