Although this article suggests that it's going to be called Day.... I really hope not!

The other articles on it say that no decision has been made, and that Day' is a 'front runner'. Day's ok as a name, better than Daybreak but not great, but then it depends on what it's going to be. It it's as newsy as it's being touted to be then it probably fits quite well. http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2010/06/11/gmtv-to-be-ditched-for-newsy-show-with-adrian-chiles-115875-22325672/ (Looks like it'll be in HD, which I suppose isn't surprising but hadn't occurred to me)

I do wonder how successful it'll be. When GMTV launched it flopped badly and reverted into essentially Good Morning Britain with a new name. On the many times the Big Breakfast had a big relaunch/revamp it returned to the original format.... and then even RI:SE eventually followed the tried and tested BB format.

I suspect that a few months after the new programme launches it'll be back to being very much what it is now

ITV News' Twitter: "GMTV is to drop its name in a £1.5 million shake-up. No decision yet on new title." Bit late but still!

Isn't that because the previous formats were the most popular, and that the new breakfast services had very different formats in order to create a distinction? Out with the old, in with the new, etc, even if it meant getting rid of a successful set-up. The current GMTV format, however, is not popular if we're to judge from the ratings, so who's to say that the newer format - more news and current affairs - won't be successful? It certainly wouldn't be beneficial for ITV to revert back to the current unpopular format.

The Big Breakfast tried the sofa format a few times and it failed on both occasions with the presenters chairs returning a few months later.

Maybe they wont bother with a co-host for Adrian Chiles now and just get contributors. When Eamonn moved to Sunrise he was co-presenting with Lorna Dunkley, in no time it became, "Sunrise with Eamonn holmes" and he has a host of females reading the news and going through the papers etc. contributing to the show. Maybe "Day" or "Daybreak" will be all about Adrian Chiles??? If this is the case then they could keep Kate and Emma on as contributors.

Well they're going to need somebody else given that Adrian will spend quite a bit of time on ITV football duties.

It seems Christine Bleakley is having difficulty making up her mind what to do

A statement from Christine Bleakley:

Don't you just love the constant changing stories about the Christine Bleakley saga! It makes me laugh that the mirror quoted her as saying "I'm staying put" when they obviously didn't. Now we have an actual official statement
I can see her going to GMTV especially as she's now signed to the same managment as Adrian!

I was just reading on the telegraph site, and it pointed out that it's quite unusual to release an official statement whilst negotations are going on. Normally all you get is press quotes. This time it's actaully on Avalon website.

If she was staying at the BBC surely she just wouldn't release a statement. Although on the other hand, would she do the same thing if it was ITV? Intresting!

Perhaps she's just fed up with all the speculation the media have been obsessed with recently. I know if I were her I'd want to make sure the truth was put out once and for all.

I do have to admit though, does seem strange when the statement doesn't say what she's doing either way.

It could also just be a tactic in securing the right contract, which ever that may be.
