'Daybreak' seems fine. They can build a brand around that, much better than ITV Day or ITV Breakfast.

CNN used to have a Daybreak breakfast show.

Sounds like a sun lotion... And what if it's raining?

I'd like AM or even just 'Morning'

A bit too lengthy?! I remind you of some popular shows of current times.

'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'
'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'
'Britain's Got The Pop Factor And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice' - Ok sorry I'm being a bit picky now.

But what I'm trying to say is that Good Morning Britain sounds warm and friendly and compared to them examples it's as short as Ronnie Corbett. You could even abbreviate to GMB if you wanna be really American plus if the union doesn't mind.

Daybreak sounds ok to me but it doesn't sound very welcoming. I know it's a step in the right direction if it is turining more newsy but I think it should still sound warm and watchable to viewers as well just like TV-am and GMTV have been and I don't think Daybreak will give the right impression out.

The show won't be competing with 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'. It will be up against Breakfast and Sunrise.

I agree that Good Morning Britain sounds warmer and cosier. However, it's a brand that has been laid to rest and ITV would be accused of being unoriginal if they brought it back. I also think if ITV gets everything right, Daybreak will be a really uplifting and inspiring show that makes you want to get up in the morning and tune in every day.

Does anyone else think of the film Daybreakers though?

Never heard of it, but from what I can tell, 'Daybreakers' was a low-budget B movie that was popular among a certain demographic (ie. not breakfast TV's target audience) for a few weeks and has since faded away into insignificance.

'Daybreak' as a breakfast television brand will be on every single week day for a decade or more.

Shocked

I wasn't to sure about Daybreak - but now hearing it a few times, i've got used to it!

I think it's just the change the puts people off - a few months after it is relaunch, people won't even think about the name, I should think!

Whatever they call it people will still refer to it as GMTV for years to come.

Some people still call it TV-am, what's your point?

I'm growing to like the Daybreak name - but whether that is the final choice remains to be seen, of course.

Indeed, but I believe a change of name (and format) is definitely needed. GMTV used to be a name that, to me, conjured up the thought of a decent enough mixture of news/current affairs and lighter content. Certainly nowadays that brand name no longer has the same connotations to me. The name and format both need to change if ITV wants to come close to overtaking the BBC alternative in the ratings.

It'll be sad to see the end of the famous brand name, but TV-am went and the general public didn't seem to notice/care - they referred to GMTV as TV-am for a long time and indeed I'm sure some people still do.

I only hope that ITV doesn't revert to the old GMTV format after a few months of Daybreak (or whatever name they choose) - that would be a huge disappointment.

Indeed, but ITV are infamous for not allowing new formats the time to settle in and become popular.

I hope they have the nerve to stick to whatever they create, apart from the obvious tweeks, and don't just get scared and try reverting to whatever dumbed-down element of GMTV they percieved as popular.

Emma is on GMTV all this week probably so Kate can have a holiday. Andrew has been on and on Sky EPG and GM.TV until Thursday. Ben has been in South Africa since Tuesday and is scheduled to present with Emma on Friday? Why? This must be a mistake but who's next in line to present 6am - 9.25am (on Friday) instead of Andrew and Ben?
