Some tabloid 'GMTV kills all its presenters with a machine gun' articles claimed every presenter, from Crosby to Arnold to Nasir, were being let go

Mind you there were similar stories about This Morning this time last year but most of their contributors came back in the autumn

I guess it will depend though on whether this is a rebrand, how ever extensive, of GMTV or something new entirely.

They'd be mad to ditch the GMTV name, it's very well known and that more than outweighs any negative connotations which will soon disappear if the new format is any good.

Daybreak seems unlikely as a name, it's such an old fashioned turn of phrase

Any perception of the title being old fashioned will soon dissipate when the programme has been around for a month or two and become an established brand. As a title I think it is the most unique and uplifting one out of all the possibilities:

· The Early Show - too generic and sounds like the kind of tacky thing Five would come up with.

· The Breakfast Show - too generic, already heavily associated with radio and too similar to the BBC's brand.

· Breakfast - taken.

· Sunrise - taken.

· Dawn - daft.

· TV-am - trademark.

· ITV am - on ITV 1 doesn't work.

· ITV Day - as above.

· Today - sounds like a current affairs show.

· Good Morning - not distinctive enough from 'This Morning'.

· Good Morning Britain - feasible, but just a bit too lengthy for current times.

· Daybreak - perfect.

If they continue with the current style of programme then "Pile of Manure" would be an appropriate title.

A bit too lengthy?! I remind you of some popular shows of current times.

'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'
'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'
'Britain's Got The Pop Factor And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice' - Ok sorry I'm being a bit picky now.

But what I'm trying to say is that Good Morning Britain sounds warm and friendly and compared to them examples it's as short as Ronnie Corbett. You could even abbreviate to GMB if you wanna be really American plus if the union doesn't mind.

Daybreak sounds ok to me but it doesn't sound very welcoming. I know it's a step in the right direction if it is turining more newsy but I think it should still sound warm and watchable to viewers as well just like TV-am and GMTV have been and I don't think Daybreak will give the right impression out.

Interesting choice of title for the programme if Daybreak is the way forward.

Does anyone else think of the film Daybreakers though? Or is that the idea that they plan to capture all of the humans awake at that time of the morning & remove all of the blood to feed Adrian Chiles.

To sum up Daybreak sounds more like a thriller movie to me than something I want to wake up to.
It's a shame that they believe that GMTV has bad connotations, as a name it sums it up perfectly Good Morning Television, it's a long standing brand & one that must be recognised globally, even if just by the PR advisors setting up interviews in Hollywood, and of course thanks to Ben Shepherd the old logo appears in shot on an episode of Friends.

Daylight?

That would be an odd title to use when the London skyline will be in darkness for much of the year for the first hour or so! Wink
