Hold on! Let's not dive for the sausage rolls at the wake just yet!
Anoilyrag has only given us the inside knowledge on current thinking at ITV Towers, they could change their minds between now and September. If 'our Bail' can knock out a decent title sequence mock in a few days*, then you can be sure that ITV have their people doing the same to test on their 'focus groups' over the next month or so.
I'm inclined to believe that ITV will want to stamp their moniker on it somewhere in the title, if only to annoy STV and UTV.
(*subtle hint!
)
I am looking forward to Daybreak. And i hope it does become very channel 7 Sunrise, because there is nothing really like that on UK TV. I would like news from 6 - 8 and then a bit of lighter news, then Lorraine at 8:30.
Rest In Peace GMTV
I really hope they give the show a good send off!

I read that itv wanted to keep it under wraps that Adrian would be presenting gmtv as well as the sports, I guess bcos they would want to make a big announcement about the new name, new presenters etc. Therefore, the Christine announcement may not come for some weeks yet - I'd say it is likely that she is coming, big coincidence that she has parted company with her manager otherwise at this time!
I do feel sorry for the current gmtv presenters, itv should do the decent thing and tell them where they stand, none of us would like our future hanging in the air. I just hope that if christine doesn't come, that they don't give us mylene klass as also speculated - that would be utter hypocrasy on itv's part, acing trained experienced journalists for a failed pop star in a relaunch to make a show more 'newsy'!
As for Eamonn Holmes comments, I think his demands were too high, they swooped for chiles instead and now he is gutted. I bet he thought they would be begging him to come back but from what I have read, not many people like working with him anyway.

How do you know they haven't?

i think it's likely too - a few post back i put this , but was the post before anoilrag post about the name, so here it is if you missed it!

At the end of the day, whatever these press reports say IMO I think it's likely that Christine will be joining Adrian come September.
1 - She's sacked her agent and is reported to be going to James Grant Management( i.e. who have Ant & Dec, Phillip Schofield etc on their books)
2- Whatever the press say, I think she has a genuine friendship with Adrian and would most likely want to work with him.
3 - Peter Fincham ( i.e. the former Controller of BBC One,who was responsible for commisioning The One Show) who is now the Director of Television for ITV and will no doubt have a good relationship with Bleakley.
4 - The money - her current salery is reported to be £100,000(ish) a year. Put it this way, over the reported 4 year deal, she'd get either £400,000 or £6m ( 15 times as much!) The BBC could never match ITV's reported £1.5m a year salery. Even if they BBC tripled it, ITV'S offer would still be 5x as much!

They'd be mad to ditch the GMTV name, it's very well known and that more than outweighs any negative connotations which will soon disappear if the new format is any good.
Daybreak seems unlikely as a name, it's such an old fashioned turn of phrase

Are they actually looking for a 'turn of phrase' though?
If so, then I think they captured it in 'This Morning', a brand which has served them well for more than 20 years. Of course, that won't do for the earlier slot, so what's been suggested seems appropriate.

Hmm. "day break" does sound a bit old hat now I think about it.
Do hope they don't slap the itv brand on it. That would suck.
But I do think they have to change the name. GMTV as a brand conjures up an image for me that's dated and rubbish. Just my opinion, but as they're seeking a new audience then they're going to have to win over folk like me.
Not that it'll work in my case. I watch breakfast daily in the hope that the Schaf will be presenting the weather.
Sets my day up a treat.

I'm surprised he hasn't been offered a weather presenting job on 'Day Break' actually, he's a popular presenter plus Kirsty McCabe works there.
Although, it doesn't look like there getting rid of Clare or Kirty... for the moment!

HO
Some tabloid 'GMTV kills all its presenters with a machine gun' articles claimed every presenter, from Crosby to Arnold to Nasir, were being let go yet none mentioned Kirsty McCabe! I know she isn't as known for GMTV as someone like Nasir is but it still seemed odd.

That doesn't make sense, but no of course not.... however they do want a phrase (or a combination of words) that have been used by the general public in the past 50 years. TV-am used the word 'Daybreak' for a couple of months in 1983, when they were in upmarket 'mission to explain' mode.
Exactly, 'This Morning' is a phrase which is actually in common use. 'Good Morning' and 'This Morning' work quite well as a pairing
