SORRY!!! I just mean last year when they were updating they played out the new mpre animated sun on the promos but this year there is nothing like that. But then again this is GMTV and nothing would suprise me at the mo!
If they featured some more news starting in September, then i guess its step in the right direction, but if ratings are remaining consistant, and people like it then there is no reason to change the current format. We can all wish though.
I hope this does happen, I put The News Hour on for a couple of minutes this morning and found the Rhys Jones murder was the top story, alright fair enough that's fine, but the next was about Owen Wilson's attempted suicide bid, anything more important such as Iraq or the Greece fires was lower down.
Saying that I couldn't help but cringe at a promo for Digital Switchover with Fiona, Andrew and Richard Arnold, why couldn't they have just used the Digital UK ones?
I've always looked at it like this, GMTV has customised itself to what the people who watch it want, and the ratings reflect that, ok their slightly down but still do the job. GMTV Today is ok, but the NewsHour should either drop the title or cover more news.
People knock American breakfast shows, but look at NBC Today, they have a hell of a lot more news then GMTV has in a whole week. Things flow more quicker on the today show, something i think GMTV should work upon.
I totally agree about the News Hour. To be fair it is more like the ealier version of GMTV today and the stories are only repeated. I do think that GMTV is an excellent show but it needs a MAJOR overhaul. It really can't be that bad can it considering that it is 15 years old in January??? Lets hope that from next week we see some sort of improvement.
Yeah, ITV Wales came at exactly that time. Ducan Golasomething was sitting on the sofa and playing on his laptop, then he started saying the weather, just rehersing i'd imagine.
Never mind revamping the titles and set, a whole new set of presenters wouldn't hurt, Kate Garraway is getting on my nerves - see Mr Arnold flounced off the set before 8am in a 'Look at me aint I a star' manner - what a moron
It wasn't a Bank Holiday in Scotland Simon, and GMTV is a pan-UK service if I'm not mistaken. Some companies took it because of English head offices etc. but for others it was business as usual.
Would knowing that ahead of your letter writing have made any difference?
I thought perhaps that would be the case, but it does not alter the fact that for the rest of the UK it was still a public holiday. If nothing else, this has given the rest of the country an insight into the scheduling problems Scotland normally experiences being at the mercy of nationwide broadcasters.
Surely it would be more sensible for Scotland to have its own edition of GMTV, or a seperate breakfast service provided by STV as an answer to the practicalities.
If there are any changes lined up, they will probably happen on Monday. Changes for GMTV normally happen in the first week in September.
Do you think we are likely to see any changes with the managing director leaving only a short period ago, unless he had already started plans rolling, or do you think if any changes to be made, they will do a 2000 and do them in the new year?
