Everything seems to have gone quiet re Adrian's co-host. What about Kate Thornton? When the rumours about Eamonn were around they said she was going to be co-host, she may still be joining the presenting team - I think she is too good for Loose Women and would be great on GMTV.

Did anyone hear Andrew's comment when he was doing an interview on Friday, he said, "isn't it difficult talking to a network and being unsure about your future"...

There is also a lot of talk going on inside the rumour mill that Grainne is going to join. Reliable or not, here is the source! http://www.herald.ie/entertainment/around-town/is-glam-grainne-on-verge-of-sealing-a-big-deal-at-gmtv-2192110.html

I spoke to a friend that works at GMTV today and they said ITV want to rebrand the whole section "This Morning", Lorraine Kelly will have a new show with live studio audience from the Loose Women studio, in HD, and then later the studio will be re-dressed for Loose Women.

Dropping the GMTV name seems like change for change's sake.

The Sun finally picked up on the GMTV brand being axed today, claiming it'll be "ITV Day". No way they'll brand the whole thing This Morning - they're really pushing This Morning at the moment and it's doing better now than it has for years, so even ITV won't be stupid enough to weaken that brand by including all the morning dross under it.

How are you so sure? Someone is saying they've got second-hand information about the name - whereas all you have is a gut instinct.

ITV have along track record of stretching a successful format as far as possible. Soaps do well, so they're stripped across the week. Talent shows do well, so they are also given the overkill treatment.

Why would This Morning, which as you say is doing better than ever, be exempt from this treatment?

You may say it would "weaken the brand" - wouldn't they see it as "capitalising on it"?

Yeah, because 'This Morning' isn't dross is it?

This Morning is distinctly upmarket compared to the other ITV daytime shows though. I don't know the exact figures but I'd guess the show attracts relatively more ABC1 viewers than other daytime shows on ITV1. So labeling all of its programming including the not-so-good ones 'This Morning' would dilute the show's distinctive presence.

ITV Day is a silly name anyway. Just call it Daytime or something, fgs.

You think This Morning is "upmarket"?

That begs some questions.

Well in comparison to the programmes around it it is, but that's not saying much really. ITV execs may be stupid - but I have to have faith they're not that stupid.

I'd sooner put my faith in Buddha.

An ITV spokesman confirmed the GMTV review "examined all aspects of the business" with a goal of creating a "groundbreaking breakfast show".
