We've got a new candidate for the job of Adrian's sidekick - the little girl of Outnumbered!!

She said something funny and then Adrain said " you sure you don't wan't a job on a breakfast tv programme!" Laughing

Re: The London Backdrop

All three of the major US morning programmes are based in New York, and make a big deal of it, with their main title sequences heavily featuring the city skyline/external shots of their studio. The US is a far more divided society than the UK, but their viewers in the Deep South seemingly don't mind their breakfast telly coming from New York, or at least the networks don't seem to think it's an issue.

London not only has the distinction of being the UK's largest city but also its capital. Rather than the usual approach of having a London backdrop and playing it down, or not having one at all, I hope GMTV take the US approach and just go for it and big up what will be a pretty cool location. This could be complemented nicely by increased focus on regional stories. Just of the top of my head this could include, for example, live two-ways with regional newsreaders/reporters where major news stories have broken

Yep - though all the main US networks have local affiliates who do VERY local news, and a LOT more of it - so there is a greater feeling of localness in that output that probably balances the NY-centric nature of their main news shows.

As my previous post was deleted, may I restate that in my opinion Gráinne Seoige has a very neutral and mild Irish accent which is not half as difficult to understand as some well known Northern Irish broadcasters.

Going way off topic here, but how local is local when it comes to the US networks. I'd assume it's at least one region/affiliate per state, but does it go further than that?

Fair point, I hadn't thought of that.

It goes much, much further than that Brekkie . . . the site below gives a full list of each US local station, by their affiliation to each national network.

In most cases, each significant city within each state will have its own local station.

So very roughly speaking we're talking 200-250 "regions" (roughly one per million people then), with between 3-6 local stations in that region.

Anyway, in a rough attempt to get this back on topic I wonder how long before ITV begin moaning about having to provide regional news at breakfast time!

Is there any news on when this impending relaunch is going to happen?? With Adrian rumoured to start at the end of this month, surley they would want to coincide his arrival with a new look??

Would Adrian start and then almost instantly disappear to South Africa for the World Cup for a month? I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't start until the relaunch.
