I have to say, I'll never understand the problem with having a London backdrop on a national program like GMTV. Surely it makes sense, as the show is broadcast from London, as the majority of people would expect, and London is the capital of this country, meaning it makes most sense to come from London, and use a backdrop of London.

I personally think it's great to make use of the real view of London in GMTV, I think it'll add a whole new depth to the show.

Forget 'whole new'. It'll add depth, even if only in field terms.

I think it'll take a lot more than a window to add depth to GMTV.

So I wonder if the timing of Lorraine's show will change? Would make more sense to be from 9 - 10 than starting at 8.25 if it's having a studio audience. Weren't there mutterings of Jeremy Kyle being dropped?

Have a mate who's a news director, the latest plan apparently for September....

0600 ITV Morning News
0700 Adrian Chiles + AN Other GMTV Show
0900 Lorraine + live audience
1000 This Morning
1200 Loose Women

No mention of J Kyle, but presumably they could stick him in the afternoons, there are loads of episodes recorded apparently, he is recording pilots for Granada in the States

Like every plan though, it'll change loads of times before September, they haven't thought about stand in presenters he reckons

Sorry forgot - they're debating calling it ITV Day with.... and dumping all the existing titles, but STV/UTV don't like the idea apparently

So GMTV as we know it will only be on for an hour? Its a wonder their bothering relaunching it at all. Sounds more like the beginning of the end.

LOL

0600-0830 GMTV (Possible new name)
0830-0925 Lorraine (Plans for a small audience, nothing is confirmed yet)

ITV Day! I'd bet my house on that not happening either.

Don't know who your source is but they are way of the mark.

If the ITV Morning News is shifted forward 30 minutes and extended to an hour in the place of what was the GMTV Newshour, isn't there a possibility that this could be a problem with the amount of news hours ITV will have, because in legal terms 6.00-9.25am is still a separate service, so any hours of news during the GMTV period will not count to any quotas ITV have to meet, which means they would need to make it up elsewhere in the schedules? It is possible Ofcom could look the other way, but legally they may not be able to.

ITV ask, OFCOM reply "how high?"

Can't see Jeremy Kyle moving to the afternoon - they tried that before (either with Kyle or Trisha) and IIRC it barely last a month.

I think as suggested above having the main show 6-8.30am, then Lorraine from 8.30-9.25am seems the most likely option.

The Early Show.

Although I don't think a name change would be good for GMTV, but CBS' The Early Show has the best intro out of the US breakfast shows IMO, hope GMTV do something like this, emphasis on like, not copying.

I think GMTV should by from 6 - 9am to provide competition to BBC Breakfast and in regards to Michael W comment - its brilliant - if GMTV had that title sequence with some refinements and the same amount of depth - it would beat BBC Breakfast
