TV
Look. In the world of TV, big bosses only care about ratings and figures. And little about what whether their audience will stay. obviously, because of the GMTV brand, most viewers are likely to stay anyway, purely because its what they are familiar with. GMTV want to attract new viewers, on top of those they have already. With this in mind, it is obvious that ITV will definitely want to become newsy in order to become the biggest breakfast show in Britain, but GMTV being GMTV, will still (i assume) have some lightweight items, maybe later on in the morning though.
And you can't get decent ratings if you don't have an audience to start with! As I said, its whether ITV are willing to risk losing even more of their audience and with it being tough times for them, its probably not the wisest move.
In other news, Ben has quit. No surprise really but obviously before he was pushed (assuming they were offering him another role). So obviously now there is the slight possibility Andrew will be kept on for relief.

Then with the relaunch it can find out what it wants to be.
I guess it just comes down to how big a gamble ITV want to take. If they want to hopefully keep their audience and maybe build on it then keep the GMTV name, but if they want an entirely new audience and starting from scratch with reputation etc then come up with a new name.
