Hope they keep Andrew and Emma for a possible Saturday and Sunday and replacements
And bring Lorriane to the front line and make the show (6am - 9:30am), because without Lorriane doing the typical GMTV fluff - it leaves more time for interesting stuff and of course - I cannot emphasis the need for GMTV to move to Leciester Square Studios - would provide some stuff for 'Summer Concert' hugely popular with Breakfast shows and bring in a lot of money for the station. (Summer Concert would be great for GMTV reputation though - 8am concerts with popular stars) - think about it

Are you thinking along the lines of NBC's Today Show where tourists and New Yorkers can look in through the window? Great in principle, but a nightmare when getting the PM in.

I've thought about moving to LS1 before, but as it's a programme that starts for 6am, there's gonna be all types of traps wondering around, especially for that time. It worked well for TMi on Saturday, but that was at 9am when it was relatively busy. Besides, bit late. MTV couldn't make money from it, so they sold it off shortly after TMi and it's now a restaurant... or café. One or the other. But IMO, that was a good studio with much potential. The Skyline Studio would be a good size for GMTV if they were going ALL NEWS and doing away with the entertainment performances. It looked good looking over the Thames when it had to come from the conservatory back in '08 when TLS had the engineering works. </rant>

GMTV used to be ahead in the ratings but it hasn't considerably changed. There is room for an alternative to BBC Breakfast and GMTV used to provide it well, but it has become very tired lately mainly due to the presenters, a dreary set and feeling quite formulaic. That doesn't mean they have to change the content to news, it just needs reinvigorating.

But the viewer has evolved! You can't exactly say that the BBC has an exciting set can you! You say 'used', and that's exactly it! GMTV used to get good ratings on its fluffy output, however, now, news is preferred. No matter how newsy GMTV goes, It will still be a lighter alternative to Breakky anyway!! Very Happy

The ratings have slipped as GMTV has skewed towards fluff and as the show has become increasingly bland due to the presenters. They did used to have more of a stronger news output but it was never hard hitting news, more like how the Newshour is now. I don't think the viewer has evolved at all, I just think they've grown tired of GMTV and what it needs is the core format re-evaluating.

If the BBC are already providing news, then whats the point in another channel doing exactly the same? That market is already being catered for.

And before people get carried away by the studio and where it should be filmed, remember there is supposedly talk of them using the same studio as This Morning, although if its the same set is anyones guess.

All the talk of who will be his female co-presenter... let's not forget how well Sunrise has done on Sky News in its current format. Chiles is very similar in style to Holmes I reckon. Maybe he's be flying solo with some pretty-looking female sidekicks?

Its a good format but I'm not sure that would work so well with GMTV due to the main audience. Obviously if getting a new audience is something they want to risk then there is no harm in trying it. But personally I think they should keep Kate as the lead female presenter and have Emma as the newsreader and Kate's cover.

If they kept Kate, its still a recognisable face and then they can do a full scale relaunch without turning viewers away.

I also think they should consider keeping the structure they currently have- Newshour, Today, Lorraine with Emma doing the Newshour. She is more than capable and I always thought it was a mistake for them to not put her there in the first place. Penny should have finally moved up to the main show imo.

I'd also like them to go back to the drawing board with the set, theres only so much you can do with a sofa and a fake backdrop and they've exhausted that look now.

For me this I think is a good move for GMTV, I would personally switch it on to see, as others as have said out of curiousity, at the moment if I do watch GMTV then its only for the Granada News, that's pretty much it. I appreciate it isn't aimed for 23 year old men and it skewed towards a housewife audience, but it's really too fluffy, I usually switch over when they're having a good old panic in the style of the Daily Mail or flogging a comepition.

At the moment Sky News Sunrise seems to get the formula right, although they could do with reading fewer emails and tweets.

I really like Adrian on The One Show so IMO it's a great move! And even if I do watch GMTV already, I'm sure the current one show/ MOTD2/ Apprentice audience will If there not already, be drawn to watch GMTV with Chiles at the helm. Although it will be strange to say the least, take a bit of getting used too!

I bet there'll keep at least one of either Ben or Andrew - well they need a backup for holiday/ fotball commitments ect.

On the set, I think as others have suggested a complete overhall is needed! I like the idea of the Leiesester Sq studio's/ Skyline studio but shouldn't think that'll happen! Someone on here has posted i think either the Austrailian/NZ breakfast programme, I quite liked that! Although as someone said earlier, there'll proberly trying to cut costs not the other way round, so This Morning set it could be still? Laughing

Just was thinking that this must be the revamp syndrome, it'll will have be revamped about 18 months by the time , it does go have the new revamp - I think it's a rule that has to happen !! Laughing

More GMTV news, according to this article, Lorraine is required 5 days a week for a live show featuring a studio audience.

Heaven forbid someone on £350,000 a year should have to work more than 2 days a week!!

I reckon she'll be the next departure to be announced.

The Mirror is hardly a reliable source though. There was a previous Mirror article (see page 311) which was a load of nonsense, and this one could be as well.

For example, I cannot see how moving from filming 2 days a week to filming 5 days a week is going to cut costs. Surely it will increase costs, especially if there's a studio audience as well?

Her recording 2 shows on Tuesday means they have to have the crew there till the mid afternoon. They did live shows the last 2 weeks with Nina and Ruth, even a Friday show which was still branded as "GMTV with Lorraine". Lorraine does do 4 live shows a few times a year, she maybe doing so this week with her staying in London for the marathon.
