Just looked back on the recording, it was blurring and freezing badly going into the reporter at 10 Downing Street. Also, it was the same as you pointed out with Meridian. Here it cut to the GMTV logo immediately after Sally had welcomed the viewers.

I don't know if it was nationwide or just Anglia, but the regional news failed to go to air this morning, so yet again we were treated to the full 1993 tune a the logo animating in a loop. I captured the whole thing this time too, so I might consider uploading the tune.

oh please do Smile Out of interest, is it the long one off the tv theme tunes CD that they use or their own mix?

No idea, it's just over 2 minutes long if that helps. As requested:

There were problems with the 8.05am opt out in Wales this morning too - the presenter said good morning then it cut to the GMTV logo and music.

And it was an Andrew Jones free morning on GMTV Wales as well Confused

Was anyone watching gmtv in the Wales area?
at around 8:07am when ITV WALES NEWS was supposed to do their bulletin, instead a testcard appeared with a hell of a high pitch beep. It displayed HTV PLC on the top of the testcard. Shortly after that we went to a gmtv caption which played a loop of the gmtv 1993 theme tune.
So we didn't get the bulletin in the end we went straight back to gmtv today at around 8:10.

Happened in the Meridian region too!!

Well no its not the cd theme then, still fabulous nonetheless. I've always loved how GMTV have such massive long remixes of their themetune. Shame that seems to be dying out these days.

Has anyone noticed GMTV seems to have changed its method of introducing the regional news (in the Granada region at least)?

Before at the opt-outs, the Granada reader would say (as normal) something on the lines of "Good morning - you're watching the breakfast news from ITV Granada" ... but now it seems to be "Thanks (X presenter), and now the latest headlines from the North West" ... and the closing announcement always says "before we go back to (X presenters) lets take a look at the region's weather".

I don't know whether GMTV has introduced a policy for better continuity between the regional and national programmes, but it does seem to be strange that all the Granada presenters are using the same method now.

Isn't that just what must be written on Granada's autocue

On Calendar it is usually
(over the top smiley face)
"Thanks Penny and good morning"
(turns to front camera, puts on over the top serious face)
Starts reading first story

By the way, it looks like Fiona has gone off on her Summer holidays, so you are all safe to tune into GMTV Fiona-free until September!

The full original theme is still used in the studio during ad breaks, just incase something happens and they need to cross back to GMTV studio output quickly.

We are lucky to get a smile from the regional presenter on GMTV Wales. Wink Mind you we had Richard Morgan presenting this morning for some reason which was nice- quite a demotion for him since he is mainly 6pm material.
