That logo looks like 'GMTTV' - Good Morning Tyne/Tees Vision!

Various news outlets say Penny is leaving in June so they can relaunch the show around then. But June always did sound a bit weird, it makes more sense if it happens in September or even next January.

June - Summer relaunch? Doesn't sound a bad idea

Historically ratings dip during the summer - so you wouldn't normally relaunch then. If you did and the ratings naturally fell (as they do during a summer) some would accuse the relaunch of failing. (I can see the headlines "GMTV relaunch loses 100,000 viewers" etc.) If you relaunch in the autumn, as audiences start to increase again, then you can use this to your advantage ("GMTV relaunch increases audiences by 100,000")

and just to add to that the presenting teams usually go to pot in the summer as the main hosts go on holiday. I'm guessing Kate will be off again so we'll be seeing more of Emma and presumably Helen over the summer, and it would be a bit silly to relaunch the show essentially with stand in presenters.

Because the current look is still quite new, I think they should let it play the year out using the current look and then relaunch it in January. Then that gives them a good few months to do it properly rather than it being rushed like it was last time, which ended up meaning the new look was pretty much phased in after the initial set/graphics change.

Indeed, I think the current look is perfectly fine and should be given a longer innings. It'll be sad if it goes the way of the News at Ten look, which didn't even get past two years, despite everything looking and sounding fantastic. Not saying that the GMTV brand couldn't use some tweaks, but I'd like them to keep the general on-screen look for longer, with a relaunch in January next year if they must.

As a whole, the graphics are fine as they are. All they need to do on that front is a few tweaks. It will be a shame if they ditch them because they are the best ones they've had in quite a while.

I think they could do with a new style set though, the current one is already looking tired mainly because each set is never radically different to the previous one. They should model a new one on This Morning/Something For The Weekend which both have a contemporary look to them, something GMTV desperately needs. Could be worth giving Lorraine's show its own identity back as well.

No, No, No!

GMTV needs to move away from the This Morning & Something From The Weekend. As said time and time again on this forum.....can we not look to take examples from our friends around the world: ABC Good Morning America & 7 Sunrise Australia

The thing is GMTV and This Morning, on occasion cover the same story, which is not good, they need to divide different content between them. For Example......

GMTV - News, Sports, Cooking, Entertainment, Exclusive Interviews, Money, Human Interest Stories & Health
This Morning - Human Interest Stories, Fashion, Television, Celebrity Interviews, Cooking, Makeover

Also, axe Lorraine because This Morning and her show are too identical

I meant the set should me like TM/SFTW, not the content. It needs seriously updating and bringing into 2010 (or 2011 by the time it relaunches Laughing). It looks far too corporate, cold and dated at the minute. GMTV has always had more of a 'homely' feel than BBC Breakfast has. As far as content goes, I agree with what you say, there should only be a certain amount of overlap between GMTV and This Morning.

GMTV has been 'rapped' by Ofcom (which I presume means no action will be taken?) because it had a link to Martin Lewis' "moneysavingexpert" website on the GMTV website, and directed viewers to the GMTV website following Lewis' appearance on the show.

Ofcom said that because Lewis encouraged viewers to visit the GMTV website to obtain vouchers from his own site, moneysavingexpert, it breached the Ofcom code.

Now surely by reporting on this, mentioning that vouchers are available, and providing a link to moneysavingexpert.com, the BBC have broke Ofcom's code too?

Perhaps ITV could merge the current GMTV branding into the ITV brand by removing the 'TV' from GMTV and adding a tagline on the idents, something like this.

Or maybe not.

That's appalling execution, apart from anything else.

But it wasn't broadcast on TV in the BBC's case, was it?

I dont think GMTV broadcast it either. All the articles say is that Martin told viewers that details were on gm.tv. It wasn't until viewers got there that they realised they had to go to its website!

Yes, but I'm saying that the BBC hasn't mentioned their website saying 'more details on our site', with a link... oh dear, I'm not explaining this well (I don't think) and can't be bothered too. Wink
