Those were the days!

I thought GMTV 7 - 8 was amazing today. not one non-news article!!! Kate really showed up Ben today - her interview skills are second to none and i think she is an asset to the company in this area. The set looks good at the moment and I prefer Helen on the news desk to anyone we have ever had. She is warm, happy and able to handle serious issues. Dan is starting to irritate. His sarcasm is annoying and his sofa presence isn't that welcoming. he should definitely go on the news desk instead of this wishy-washing interview format whereby the presetners appear to quiz Dan about current sporting action.

This morning John was linking into a report, and told us it was courtesy of GMTV's colleagues over at ITV Meridian. News operations seem to be merging here.

Notice, for the first time, I think, I'm open to correction if wrong, that some of Lorraine Kelly's programmes are listed separately now on the DTT EPG.

I'm pretty certain its always been separate, usually GMTV from 6-8.35am and then GMTV with Lorriane from 8.35-9.25am, I'm sure it was separate during the latter years of News Hour/Today/LK Today.

Although it's quite odd getting used to ITV1 breakbumpers during GMTV hours now, what happens at weekends? Is that classed as CITV or ITV1?

It was listed under 'GMTV' for about a week after the January 2009 relaunch. It soon changed to GMTV with Lorraine.

Well done to GMTV for the excellent coverage this morning with the Breaking News. Very much on the pulse and they seemed to turn theit attentions to make it priority, when I think at one time this would not have been the case.

On a couple of occasions I flicked over to BBC Breakfast and they had still not even reported the news, GMTV was streets ahead today.

Do you mean the story of the kidnapped Oldham boy in Pakistan?
BBC will have held back because of the conflicting reports, police are denying he's been found. Waiting for the full story rather than rushing on following Sky's lead.

That same article suggests there's speculation among the staff that the GMTV name and brand will be dropped in favour of 'ITV Day'.
Morale at an all time low.

I thought that 'Daytime' has traditionally been the period when grateful parents (who don't work) could relax in front of the TV while the pesky children were at school.

A programme which starts before daylight for much of the year, hardly falls into that bracket.

ITV Day just sounds so anodyne - let's hope they don't stick with that. ITV Morning would be better (though every 'comedian' would rename it ITV Mourning I guess...)

Breakfast, Breakfast News, Breakfast Time all did what they said on the tin. Nothing spectacular - but you know what you were getting - a show at Breakfast time.

TVam and GMTV were the same - though arguable TVam had a stronger brand in that it was exactly what its initials said, whereas GMTV is a bit more obscure.

How about Good Morning ITV ? Would trade on both the Good Morning Britain and GMTV heritage?
