Well in that case, why not just rename the bloody thing? Just get rid of GMTV full stop and just have a 'newshour' from 6-7 then a This Morning style programme from 7-12:30. Honestly, did ITV just buy GMTV on a whim? They're going to f**k it up.

Calm down, we're all feeling emotional.

People are mixing up studios with sets.

As we've seen from BBC News, it's perfectly possible to change the set between 9.25 and 10.30 or have sets facing in opposite directions but in the same studio.

Depending on how big the studio is. Does anyone know how much of This Morning's studio its set takes up?

It's interesting that the Mirror's report about the kids presenters being axed mentioned that Lorraine Kelly's show was safe, though the staff working on it aren't, and today it mentions in the story about studios, that some bits of Lorraine Kelly's show are also covered by This Morning. I'm wondering if Lorraine Kelly may be moved onto the main show, and the 09:00 - 09:25 slot may be used for something else, such as a gameshow?

Doing that would remove wasteful duplication, though it would also pose another problem; does GMTV keep all presenters, or lose another to keep Lorraine Kelly?

This is ITV, of course there going to bodge it. ITV Plc lost it ages ago and I'm surprised it makes any profit at all to be honest. GMTV is a has been now I'm afraid, before long all we will get is more re-runs of Coronation Street for breakfast TV on ITV1.

The article wording suggests its the set that is being shared, and This Morning has quite a large set. There are 4 or 5 different parts to it and in order to accomodate a new set for GMTV, they'd have to limit where This Morning is presented from.

Not sure whats in the pipe line for back room staff for examble sales as they have only just been advertising for an advertising manager on a 6 month contract.

At the end of the day all this guessing and GMTV spokesman saying that the review is ongoing, we all know that ITV have decided whats being cut and exactly what changes are in place. They are just releasing it bit by bit.

Seeing as we are already nearly half way through March and people are going in May ready for the changes from June, they havent got too long really to get everything in place.

Does anyone know what time This Morning currently start crew briefing and rehearsals? I was thinking that doing Lorraine's stuff on the This Morning set would make some sense - but I suspect an 0925 off-air followed by a 1030 on-air would be a bit of an issue if you've got an entire show to rehearse (particularly music numbers)

I worked on This Morning for a bit when it moved to London. Back then there was a script meeting at 7.30, block through stuff about 8.30 and timings and changes with R&J about 9.30.
Certainly when I was there it was still a very classically produced programme with no automation of any sort, in complete contrast to GMTV who drove most things from automation.
GMTV's gallery at studio5 was also very geared towards multiple OS's and clean feeds in a newsy type way.
