It seems a lot of effort for an 8 minute item!

That looks dire! Cobbled and cluttered together kitchen and a newsroom with a wonky desk unit in the background.

I noticed that at the 8am bulletin, they used a static shot. I think instead of changing the location completely, they could probably get away with using the weather screen and projecting the image that should be behind Penny. At least it would give it a bit of continuity. Although a potential problem with that is the green 'news' logo ... but its in a darker green so maybe something could be done about that.

The news logo wouldn't affect it surely, so long as they just used a CSO plasma rather than wheeling the plasma to the green screen. If it did have an effect, surely the green map on the weather wouldn't be there?

I meant just literally sticking the desk and plasma in front of the green screen whilst projecting the usual background image. They could pre record the 9am weather or just show the short 8.30am update so it wouldn't affect the structure of the show. Although there could be no need for the plasma if they opted for a close up like in the picture above.

Well no, because the map is the element being keyed in. It is downstream of the keying process so whatever colour it features is irrelevant.

Claire was professional today - there was a big crash sound at 7:29 during her weather forecast - she didn't bat an eyelid!

Perhaps she didn't hear it?

That was what I was saying - it doesn't affect it. I thought TV Geek was suggesting a fake plasma (keyed in) would be used rather than the physical plasma would have an effect on it, hence the confusion. Smile

Perhaps, perhaps not. But if the microphones picked it up surely she would've heard it!

EDIT: Just a thought : it might've been from the kitchen so she would've probably seen it or been expecting it!!

It could have been from any source on the sound desk, including studio mics, the newsroom, external sources and VT machines. Not all are routed to the studio floor or to ear pieces so hearing it on the TX feed doesn't immediately mean it's been heard by the presenter.

Yet another bad decision made by ITV. The programme won't be the same without Penny Smith!! They should have got rid of Kate - I find her far to smug for first thing in the morning Crying or Very sad

ITV is keen to bring back a sense of main anchors across the whole programme, but is still working out the details of how the presenting rota will work between Miss Garraway, 42, Miss Crosby, 32, Castle, 46, and Shephard, 35.

So the logical solution is to axe the one remaining female face who is heavily associated with GMTV? And if they're concerned about the direction GMTV is going in, then axing the two with the most credibility is laughable. I'm guessing Helen Fospero is staying on as the newsreader. I think she is head and shoulders above Emma. They should put Emma behind the desk and Helen on the sofa.

If they want 'faces of GMTV' again then the most obvious thing to do is move Lorraine back to the main show.
