Noone is interested in cooking when its on TV anyway, its just a time filler that adds a bit of variety. How many people honestly cook something they've seen on TV?

When you say no-one, do you mean yourself? Because I enjoy the odd cookery show, and know of many others who do. No, I've never cooked a recipe from the TV, but that doesn't mean there's no value in it.

Theres a bit of a difference between a cookery show and a cooking segment within a show. GMTV is essentially a show which is for background noise- its just on whilst you're getting ready and not something to actually take a vested interest in it.

The popping in a cookery item surely won't make much difference. As you say, it's just an item, so if you don't like cookery shows, there's no need to boycott the entire programme.

It can air from the newsroom if the entire show moves to ITN or if ITV actually keep GMTV News. It hasn't been confirmed that ITV want ITV News to become the provider, thats all assumptions based on ITV's track record.

Although ITV haven't exhibited much business acumen in the past, even I can work out that there is no point funding the mini in-house news operation at GMTV if you're already paying a contractor to produce your main news output.

That may be true, but a lot of us (including myself) are jumping the gun and assuming the GMTV News brand will be scrapped too. There is nothing stopping ITN producing GMTV News or even somehow getting it into the ITV contract but keeping the GMTV name.

They would have contracts in place with GMTV. Even though ITV bought/now own GMTV, ITV still has to honour those contracts.

They may be paid off though

So you have never seen Something For The Weekend, then?

Why would ITV's purchase of the rest of GMTV have any impact on the provision of local news bulletins for Scotland and NI?

If Macmillan Media were cheaper than paying STV/UTV before, then I can't see the ownership of GMTV affecting that.

I don't think that the news coming from the Newsroom is going to affect the interaction between the presenters. Of late, there is very little interaction anyway. They can still talk, that's why microphones were invented.

Do you really think that there still will be local news within 18 months on GMTV?
You know how ITV feels about local news and this would a quick and easy cost saving.
