At 7:07 this morning, Penny handed over to the regional News and as the camera zoomed out of the news area (which looked much better in a full view) the screen next to her changed to display an animated ident, similar to the one we see on screen before ITV kicks in! Just thought I'd mention it!


I also like the new weather summary graphic that appears at the end of the headline at :15 and :45. Very GMTV! The orange weather straps are better too!

That ident usually plays out, I've pointed it out before. Sometimes it doesn't though, but 99% of time it will.

I think 99% of the time is DOESN'T happen. believe me, I watch the 7 and 8 TOTHs nearly every morning and this is very rare.

It's made their news coverage look extremely threadbare in the last few days. And before anyone says 'GMTV isn't a news programme', consider how much money the British public has pledged and the extent to which people are talking about it. GMTV just needs to find a way of putting its stamp on world events....but just not bothering isn't the answer.


I think we're all going to know what is going to happen to GMTV and it will inevitably merge with ITV News. They could've started introducing this to viewers by using Mark who has gone out for ITV. They could have benefited from it especially during the Newshour.

Correct. I also mentioned that this happens at the TOTH news bulletins, not at 6:35 in the morning.

Without a doubt ITV will want to make cost savings in news. I believe ITN already provide the sat trucks, I'm sure they'd want extra cash for a full service.
As for the service why change something that works? Perhaps a small reduction in presenters and a slight time tweak is all that's needed.

I spend £10 on sweets and sell them for £15. I've made £5 profit. But if I get bought by cash-strapped ITV they're going to want to spend £6 on sweets but still sell them for £15. They'd be making £9 profit instead of £5. Who wouldn't want the extra £4?

Erm... how long has http://www.itv.com/gmtv been live? Looks kinda new!
