I've heard there will be new look GMTV weather graphics this Monday.

I hear METRA are behind them...
EDIT: Misread what I was being told, they said "I hope METRA are doing them".

I hope they don't use Viz and make a pigs ear out of it (like the transition from the titles).

Something that isn't as Animated would be nice. Be good to see something like the BBC are putting out, but NOT what ITV are putting out, because if we get ITV's generic weather, then it'll be the final straw.

ITV's weather software is a good 10 years old. The graphics are 7 years old, so I doubt GMTV will get them.

I'm afraid I don't share your excitement over weather graphics. They look the same, just a bit darker. There are only so many times you can recreate a map of the UK with the same fluffy clouds or the sun.

Indeed. Although I don't know what was wrong with the previous graphics - they seemed perfectly acceptable to me. I don't know why there are these complaints over GMTV graphics all the time in this thread. They do the job and aren't badly designed (apart from that aston and the unaligned text).

Personally, I think they are a step backwards rather than forwards. I much prefered the previous weather graphics.

They are better, theres no doubt. However, unfortunately, they aren't better enough to warrant them replacing the old ones which in my opinion, weren't as bad as this forum would like you to believe. Despite this, I am relly liking the deep blue background which gives the whole presentation of the weather more depth!

The map seems a little small.
I think it would be better zoomed in, why's there a need to see most of Northern France?

To include the Channel Islands.

They could include The Channel Islands in an inset box or show them slightly out of position.

The map could be brought closer cutting down on the amount of 'sea' and 'Northern France'

GMTV must be the only 'news' programme not to have gone to Haiti...very disappointing considering everyone else is there.

It's made their news coverage look extremely threadbare in the last few days. And before anyone says 'GMTV isn't a news programme', consider how much money the British public has pledged and the extent to which people are talking about it. GMTV just needs to find a way of putting its stamp on world events....but just not bothering isn't the answer.
