For me, as a long time viewer of GMTV all they need to do is work harder on the Newshour, making it separate look again. A dedicated team which will be used in the main GMTV to show off their news abilities. If they are going to get rid of some people, I really can't see it being Ben Shepherd because of his appeal to its main audience. I think Andrew Castle being let go, or becoming a main sports reporter for them (covering World Cup, Wimbledon ect). They could also do with moving to a bigger and better studio, although thats just a little tick of mines. That way they could have a dedicated newshour set, extended of the very small area they do the news from now, and then the main sofa area for the rest of GMTV.

A great idea that has been on my mind for a while too. The newshour could then be presented like Breakfast is early in the morning, with a nice big desk. I'd love to see a GMTV style news desk!!

How many times - GMTV is NOT BREAKFAST - If you wan't hard news read from a desk go to BBC One. GMTV has had the same format for years, it's not going to change.

This is what I would do, given a chance (possibly a good thing I am not given the chance!!!)

6am to 7am (EVERYDAY) ITV NEWS - HOUR with Penny and John (coming from ITN/ITV News)

7am to 9am (Monday To Friday) DAYBREAK similar in look and style to both Australia's and New Zealands Sunrise with 2 anchor presenters with a sports presenter, weather presenter and entertainment presenter.

9am to 930am (Monday to Friday) LORRAINE

7am to 930am (Saturday's) TOONATTIK

7am to 930am (Sunday's) SUNDAY DAYBREAK

I guess you've not seen Breakfast for a while - we've not used the desk for nearly three years!

Which, in my opinion, is a shame, but that's not GMTV related...

Perhaps not, but it is a reply to something Mikey said about them having a nice big desk in the morning - which they don't - so entirely relevant.

I do hope you're correct, Cross Channel. You tend to be, and that would be GREAT News.

I hear METRA are behind them...
EDIT: Misread what I was being told, they said "I hope METRA are doing them".

I hope they don't use Viz and make a pigs ear out of it (like the transition from the titles).

Something that isn't as Animated would be nice. Be good to see something like the BBC are putting out, but NOT what ITV are putting out, because if we get ITV's generic weather, then it'll be the final straw.
