I still believe that Kate is a really credible jounalistic presenter who has always been in the shadow of first, Fiona, and now Emma. I think she stilll has chance to prove herslef as a hard-line journalist.

I hope against hope that GMTV doesn't go down the This Morning route, on the other hand, I hope it doesn't turn into a Breakfast clone. I think a format that incorpoates both the current formats from Breakfast and GMTV would be a complete winning formula that would satisfy all needs of the target audience. I also don't agree with having an hour devoted to news, and an hour of more entertainment led stories. A nice balace of the two components would be great.

See my thoughts on the previous page - I completely agree, and let's not forget that GMTV did used to do this perfectly once upon a time.

Kay would be ideal for the role, and would be good too, be nice to see her on GMTV.

I can't see Kay B going to GMTV - she signed a new contract with Sky a few months ago. I think for her going from a massive 24-hour news organsation to a morning show would be a massive step back for her. Who know's - if it was true I think Sky would battle hard to keep her though.

As for Eamonn - would he really go BACK to GMTV?

The thing is that GMTV are now fully ITV owned & there have already been quite a few management reshuffles. Didn't Eamonn have a problem with the management at the time? It couldn't have been the early mornings for obvious reasons.

Remember he does present This Morning for ITV, so who knows.

IIRC I think one of the main points was that he thought GMTV was to celebrity orientated and also from wiki ( I know how reliable that is Laughing ) it says "Holmes left GMTV after reportedly asking for a pay rise of more than £500,000 a year for three days a week,"

For me, as a long time viewer of GMTV all they need to do is work harder on the Newshour, making it separate look again. A dedicated team which will be used in the main GMTV to show off their news abilities. If they are going to get rid of some people, I really can't see it being Ben Shepherd because of his appeal to its main audience. I think Andrew Castle being let go, or becoming a main sports reporter for them (covering World Cup, Wimbledon ect). They could also do with moving to a bigger and better studio, although thats just a little tick of mines. That way they could have a dedicated newshour set, extended of the very small area they do the news from now, and then the main sofa area for the rest of GMTV.

Seems a bit strange having Baby Breakfast Show aimed at parents on GMTV2 & CITV... views on breast feeding between Hi5 and ITV's kids programmes is bit on the odd side Razz

Would he want to do that. It would be a big demotion. And wouldn't Dan Lobb be far cheaper to do that?

GMTV's problem is a bit like TV-am's in the early days... BBC Breakfast is so cozy, light and bland it feels it has to be cozier, lighter and blander. It's also become very lazy in the type of stories it covers and the way it covers them. GMTV is a bit like the Daily Express - once very good but now a shadow of itself with predictable "there's anger today at..." headlines all over the place and "oh look, it's snowing in winter in America".
I agree with some of the other comments - this could be a really good opportunity to develop the show into a slightly more serious and credible programme like the morning shows in America, which are huge.
I think they do have a problem with the presenters. There are too many and most have been there for years. Sometimes it feels they, and some of the correspondents, are simply going through the motions.
There are endless "lives" - which are nothing more than a rehash of the Daily Mail or Sun. There's very little story-telling or investigation or nicely crafted reports.
GMTV should set the agenda, not follow the tabloids. There should be more original reporting. It should become a little less twee and just a little more modern.

I think the last thing Eamon Holmes would do is return to GMTV after continually slating the management and format. Subsequently, GMTV will have to offer him and Kay Burley massive pay packets to even match what they receive from sky; an option that would further cripple the company. I don't think anything will change between now and September for sure.

A great idea that has been on my mind for a while too. The newshour could then be presented like Breakfast is early in the morning, with a nice big desk. I'd love to see a GMTV style news desk!!
