Yes i was a bit taken back by this. Were they just played out by mistake or have they returned permanently? i only saw the 08:00 opening so am unsure.
I saw them too. I think they did them because of the story they were covering (the shootings). There was only 1 news story that morning, so they needed something to fill up the usual bit of time, hence the old title sequence. They also never used the graphics that morning either, no date was announced and after the news was announced, it cut to Andrew & Penny who said "this is GMTV Today" then the old titles.
As for a revamp, Martin & Fiona need axing along with Ben & Andrew (from GMTV Today at least), Kate should become the anchor woman presenting Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with Penny on a Thursday and Friday with Gloria on the Newshour on a Thursday & Friday.

The music also dipped immediately, no studio sweep and the News Hour bed then kicked in.
I also think it was employed tactfully.

Does anyone know what font is used on the 'today' bit of GMTV Today. I know the rest but i cannot find it anywhere in windows so i presume its on a MAC computer??? Please help! As for GMTV and the titles, i just think its a lack of communication. If GMTV got their act together and had a bit of continuity as ive previously mentioned then it wouldn't be in such a state!!!

Hmm i fail to see why using the older (more chessier) titles made any impact on anyone given the story they were covering. Surely if they are that concerned you would not play titles at all.

I dont mean in respect of the victims, I mean to fill up time because that was the main headline when they normally do more than one headlines.

GMTV needs a MASSIVE revamp.
It needs to get rid of the £1.30 competitions, axe Fiona Phillips, Andrew bloody Castle, and the 'I'm so funny' Penny Smith, update the presentation to fit 2007 and not 1987, get rid of the awful backdrop that looks more like Iraq than Britain, and have it on 7 days a week.
If I had my way, this is how the schedule would look:
6.00-7.00 News Hour - hour of the very latest national and international news, with a local news updates at 6.25 and 6.55. Presented by John Stapleton and Gloria De Piero (Mon-Thu) and Alastair Stewart and Angela Rippon (Fri-Sun). The whole thing would also be in a seperate part of the studio, behind a news desk, and modern day news graphics.
7.00-9.30 Today - very latest national and international news, with more showbiz stories as well, and local updates at 7.25, 7.55, 8.25, 8.55 and 9.25. The whole thing would be presented on a sofa, and no separate newsreader would be needed. The studio would look more modern and classy, fit for the 21st century. Presented by Ross Kelly and Kate Garraway (Mon-Thu) and Ben Shephard and Lorraine Kelly (Fri-Sun).
LK Today and Entertainment Today would be axed.

Well - heres my ideas for a revamp.
06:00 - 07:00 Newshour (Seven days a week)
Presented by John Stapleton & Gloria De Piero. All the latest news, with in-depth reports, and studio guests. It would be presented behind a desk, with the studio being modern and warm to wake up to. Cover presenters would be Nick Dixon & Penny Smith. Their would be no competitions during this time.
07:00 - 08:45 Rise & Shine (Weekdays only)
Presented by Ben Shephard & Kate Garraway. All the latest news, on the top of the hour, followed by local news. It would include real life stories, showbiz, womens fashion and the other general fluff. It would be on a sofa, with the studio feeling welcome and up to date. Cover presenters would be Andrew Castle & Andrea Catherwood. Competitions could be running during this time.
8:45 - 09:30 Lorraine Kelly (Mon - Thu), Entertainement Uncut (Fri), Toonatik (Sat - Sun)
The current set-up for these shows would be in place, but with Entertainement Uncut & Lorraine Kelly sharing one studio area. All three shows would get a slight makeover.
Local News & Adverts
At 6:05, 6:35, 7:25, 7:55, 8:25 their would be local news. During 'Rise and Shine' normal competitions would be aired but not during 'Newshour'. Getting in touch with GMTV, such as texting and email would be advertised during 'Rise and Shine' but not 'Newshour.
The Studio
The studio would be a decent size, unlike the current one. With it having three sections, one for the 'NewsHour' area, another for the 'Rise & Shine' and the third for 'Lorraine Kelly' and 'Entertainement Uncut'. The studio would not be like BBC Breakfast, which is cold and unwelcoming for morning TV. GMTV's would have a warmer touch, with warmer colours and so on...

I've already said this several times, but i do agree with the idea of a complete revamp!!!!!! I think that the actual programmes as they are: Newshour GMTV Today, LK Today and Ent Today are fine but as for the studios i do agree. the backdrop looks awful and the news desk and weather graphics are terrible too. i think that the newer GMTV today titles are fine but they need to change the break ones and also the main ident needs changing too. It was 2004 when the last major update was done and so i do think that now would be a good time. I do think though that they are quite scared of change and that if they took n more risks then they would see better results.
What do you think??
