I must say, I thought GMTV's coverage of the floods was great today. At the TOTH they didn't head over for a News Update, they went straight to Richard Gaisford with the latest and went for the News Update after that. This meant that regional news backtracked and probably the greatest thing about todays show was...

My Beloved News Ticker returned!

It was all about the floods, but was there throughout most of Richard (Gaisford)'s pieces and the News Updates. It wasn't on screen throughout, but was shown when needed after 7:30. Also, Breaking News Strap came out, also very nice and sleek, but a shame about what the Breaking News was...

Overall, good coverage! Very Happy

I have to agree with gmtv009. very good coverage for GMTV,I was pleased to see reports right up to 9.20
instead of finishing at 8.10 like normal. I just wonder though if it had been wed or thur how could these
extra updates have been incorprated into lorraines recorded show, 1 min at 9.00 would hardly have be sufficient.

The logical solution would be to scrap Lorraine and either play it on the Friday or only recorded 3 shows the following week

When can we expect GMTV to deck the halls? My money is on the 7th. Be interesting to see what they come up with this year being the first Christmas with this set.

Probably move the sofa slightly forward and basically use the same set up as usual

Interesting piece on the Evening News about ITV taking full control of GMTV. With it trailing Breakfast in the ratings I am sure ITV will want to act quickly and fight back. I expect it to turn more newsy in 2010.

The ratings aren't that far behind, GMTV gets about 1m viewers with BBC1 on around 1.2m viewers. Obviously its an average, so reach is most likely 6-8m for both shows. GMTV targets its audience very well, so I doubt they'll alienate those viewers in favour of ones they may never get.

So Kate Garraway has been given a slap on the wrist for making some offline comments about Mariah Carey's recent appearance on Lorraine Kelly's programme. Apparently Kate "has been carpeted and was misinformed about some stuff.......and has apologised to Mariah."

Yeah, right!

Well speculation is rife this morning as to what will happen to GMTV. A full review in in swing and so big changes are expected as a result.
