That may be Emma's decision on her hair, you never know. But ratings wise, I thought GMTV did better.

Also, usually, when the region fails to broadcast, the breakdown music would be played, but the other day I got the London broadcast instead, and it was defiantly on my regions channel, Anglia.

Well, you may not know this. But all ITV Playout is centralised to 2 Transmission Centres.

The Leeds NTC (Northern Transmission Centre) and the London STC (Southern Transmission Centre).

The Leeds Regions are Granada, Border , Tyne Tees and Wales.
The STC Regions are London, Meridian, Anglia, Central and West & Westcountry. (Weird I know, that HTV wasn't from the same TC.)

So it could be that they simply played the London feed out by mistake OR switched to it instead of the breakdown music.

I thought Wales was with London & Central with Leeds?

Make's more sense if Wales is with Leeds to me.

Nope. They've been mucking around of late.

Wales now goes via NTC and Central via STC (They swapped, I think.)

No its GMTV's decision on her hair. GMTV used to do better, but since 2007 I think BBC Breakfast have taken a lead

I'm sorry, but what the hell do you know about Emma Crosby's hair?

How dare you comment on someone's hair as if you know them, when clearly you don't?

Whether it's her decision or not, I don't care - and I must say I have no inclination to find out.

Sounds just as daft as Central going via Leeds in the first place.

Isn't there room for both Central & Wales along with the other southern ITV regions to come out of London & leaving Granada, YTV, Tyne Tees & Border with Leeds, or is this a matter of equalling out the work between TC's?

Your idea makes more sense, if anything easier to have Granada South and Carlton regions coming from London and Granada North's coming from Leeds, but I guess it was just to equal things out, but it sounds daft Wales coming from Leeds. I'm quite surprised they haven't moved the whole lot down to London especially as ITV are mothballing Yorkshire's studios. I'm sure it's do-able but I guess ITV need a back up base outside of London.

It's something to do with having an equal workload between the to TC's.

With the Mothballing of Leeds playout will be moving south.

*Points to Birmingham on map* Put it here, ITV.

JAH has a valid point, bpmikey is making out that he knows her personally and knows the science behind her hair.

Didn't they take the equipment out when Central transmission moved to Leeds?

(Central couldn't get on air by themselves unless Leeds pressed a button, I got the impression, which applies to any region, depending whether they're run from Leeds or London, unless I got it totally wrong? Mind you, in 'The Stirrer' forum recently, I had a 'minor' disagreement with some woman who had a connection with Anglia Tv over the new news arrangements & she refused to believe one of the late night Central bulletins was prerecorded, quoting the OFCOM rules. I even pointed her over here, but she reckoned one of her colleagues who signed up here got some right grief from somebody, even though the powers that be here confirmed her colleague was from Anglia. Can anyone shed any light on that?)

No, they just stopped using it. I am certain that if they wanted to, Central could get on air by themselves.
They provide a feed (automated at the moment) to ITV STC for them to relay to the transmitters/satellite to broadcast on the ITV 1 Central channel. There is also an override system for the regional transmission of programming in place.

[I hope what I wrote is what I was told on MSN and I haven't misinterpreted it.]

There is loads of unused equipment at Gas Street, even rooms called 'Playout' 1,2 and 3 (With a Carlton Star in the corner of each sign).

How dare you tell me what I can and can't comment on. This is a TV forum and believe it or not, Emma Crosby is on TV. Who's to say I don't know her. Me merely commenting on her hair, is no worse than people claiming that Ian Wright as aspergus on the Live at Studio Five thread. I don't see you having a go at them? I suggest you toughen up if you get upset when I point out that I'm not a fan of Emma's hair.

This Moring, there wasn't any news update from the news desk at 7:15, instead, at 7:18, there were some new semi transparent straps that were green with the NEWS logo on and the presenters read the news headlines to the old Newshour bed. I didn't notice whether it happened again after this. Could anyone clear this up?

Yep - its all change the news at quarter past and a quarter to will now be read from the sofa - it saves time and allows for an extra news item, its also thought that it's a more 'punchy' way of presenting them. This will happen again starting tomorrow from 0615.
