For all this fawning over GMTV - it's a rather childish misconception to call the presenters of Breakfast 'robots'.

Specifically, I'm talking about Bill and Sian - who have worked together for years and come across as a married couple onscreen. You can tell they respect and like each other offscreen, and this is something I sometimes find is missing on GMTV - it all seems very fake. Emma Crosby seems to act as though she's dumbed herself right down, simpering and asking rubbish questions all through the programme.

The main difference between GMTV and Breakfast is, you're right, its news coverage. Because Breakfast is produced by BBC News. It's for people who don't need people to welcome you with a big hug on TV in the morning - because it's just pointless.

it also a childish misconception to say that GMTV is for people who "need hugs in the morning". GMTV is aimed your mostly at Families, but I do know, many corporate bossess and business people who watch

It's not - that's actually the definition of GMTV given to me by a few of my friends, implying that GMTV somehow nurses you through the morning.

I wish they would sort out Emma Crosby's hair. I know as a bloke I shouldn't comment but she looks sooo old with it blonde and curly. She looked much younger and sexier when it was straight and darker. They are trying to make her look like Kate!

That may be Emma's decision on her hair, you never know. But ratings wise, I thought GMTV did better.

Also, usually, when the region fails to broadcast, the breakdown music would be played, but the other day I got the London broadcast instead, and it was defiantly on my regions channel, Anglia.

No its GMTV's decision on her hair. GMTV used to do better, but since 2007 I think BBC Breakfast have taken a lead

Well, you may not know this. But all ITV Playout is centralised to 2 Transmission Centres.

The Leeds NTC (Northern Transmission Centre) and the London STC (Southern Transmission Centre).

The Leeds Regions are Granada, Border , Tyne Tees and Wales.
The STC Regions are London, Meridian, Anglia, Central and West & Westcountry. (Weird I know, that HTV wasn't from the same TC.)

So it could be that they simply played the London feed out by mistake OR switched to it instead of the breakdown music.

GMTV was most watched until the phone in scandals when the ratings plummeted and it has never really recovered. I think that was the idea behind the massive relaunch earlier this year, to make it seem completely different and regain lost viewers. It hasn't really worked out though and they've reversed most of the relaunch anyway.

How have they reversed most of the re-launch. They've just put the new graphic thing in, how it's been reversed back I don't know. They've put more in, not taken bit's away, apart from the news sting, which they've gone back to. And the Lorraine Whispers, which were scrapped.

I mean content wise, in January it felt more newsy but now its back to how GMTV used to be ... it isn't a bad thing, it was just a misconception on GMTV's part on what their audience want.

Oh, in that case, I'm in two half's on it. I think it's better than before, but they have gone back down the Showbiz route, axing more News, even when they still did showbiz.

I have watched both GMTV and Breakfast and I find GMTV Warmer and easy to understand.

I think they is more of a chemistry between the presenters at GMTV that the Breakfast team lack.

Totally agree Michael.

I understand that business people may like to watch BBC Breakfast, its straight to the point news, sport and weather. But for a typical family - GMTV is the answer. I like its fun aspect, the chemistry, especially between Emma & Andrew - I actually think they outshine Ben & Kate!

I agree, i like/enjoy the chemistry between Andrew and Emma, it is genuine & you can tell they get along well outside of work too

I thought Wales was with London & Central with Leeds?

Make's more sense if Wales is with Leeds to me.
