GMTV Have messed up a few times today. Light's when out just after 6:40 and they were in darkness for a bit

Dimmers failed or tripped out. They then turned on the studio work lights before they got the dimmers back on again. If it was a desk fault then the dimmers would have held the lights in their current state, or in the case of operator error they wouldn't have bothered with the work lights and just gone back to the correct cue in the desk.

Now explain how they messed up, or are you just trying to have a go at them but don't know what you are talking about?

Alright, I made the mistake in saying they messed up, do we need to be perfectly correct all the time.

Are you saying that I have said to be perfect? If so, I've never said they have to be perfect, or ever seen them perfect, I think?

I deleted it, so no luck here, it'll crop up on Youtube eventually, I'm sure!

There's quite a big difference between saying "they had a problem with the lighting at 7.40 - everything went dark, but they got them back in a couple of minutes" and "they messed up and all the lights went out". Stating that they made a mistake, infers that you think they should do better.

If you don't know they made a mistake, why have you (and others with regards to this new look) assume that every small change or problem is a mistake. Some of you have even been calling for the sack of the crew because of the changes. When you know something is a mistake, feel free to say so, but if you don't know what you're talking about, it's often better to remain quiet. Post the facts that you are aware of, not your uninformed opinion. Remember the saying "it's better for people to think you a fool, than to post and prove it".

Question: you're the vision supervisor for GMTV, sat in vision control (the gallery to your left through a window) in front of the lighting desk. All the monitors in front of you go blank, except for your TX monitors, which still has the ticker visible. What do you do? (tip: vision also look after lighting)

Check the camera montiors to see whether it's the vision that's buggered up and just showing the graphics, if not, reboot the lighting desk? Also check the sound to see if the studio power has been lost? That's just a guess, I wish I knew more about how stuff like that works

Probably put up a caption that reads "ITV1 continues at 9:25am" and then go home to bed.

Um, sellotape some torches to the camera's and play the closing theme. Then use the ticker to say, GMTV is now handing over to ITV.
