Well I think its pretty sad if that's all people can have to look forwad to at bank holiday. gmtv is pretty rubbish and has no fun in it anymore, a small graphics change won't make it better

agrees and they are pants!! about time they stopped wasting money on titles, graphics and music and put some money into half decent features and presenters. BRING BACK TV-AM!!!! BWT Yeh I do like the new music.

Do you really think if TVAM was around now it would be any different to what GMTV is?

It would have changed mate it wouldn't be the same thing it was in 80's.

Also GMTV is a popular format, which many people enjoy and is commercially successful. It seems because the programme isn't your bag means you think the show shouldn't exist.

Funny thing is when GMTV started they tried to be different, it didn't work, so within a few months they became a carbon copy of TV-am and what do you know it's been the same since. The only thing in my opinion that makes GMTV better is that has the proper ITV Regional News, well in most of the country anyway.

I agree. I found the last few comments confusing - GMTV *is* what TV-am was.

Good lord they even had Lorraine Kelly.

Oh, they're messing Lorraine up now.

They keep using GMTV's TOTH Bed for the 'Coming Up' segments instead of her own and going out to break, they use a GMTV sting, whereas they use a Lorraine sting coming back. And they treat it like regular GMTV, they were talking about a News Topic covered on the main show today, interviewing someone done on the main show.

And in the case of a user who said it's sad that a GMTV update is all we had to look forward to, who said that was all we had to look forward to?

And, great news for people that hate discussion of the closing shot, people will no doubt soon be discussing the opening shot! Smile

I think thing is most the people commenting (like me) have probably only seen a few clips of TVAM on YouTube and that can't give you a full understanding of the programming, quality of the journalism and features etc.

I can't comment on TVAM myself for those very reasons, but all I was saying is that if it was in anyway superior the show would be very different now. In the same way the feel and tone of ITN Evening News has probably changed in some respects.

They used the GMTV Closing theme instead of Lorraine's different closing theme. Again, GMTV don't know what they're doing.

It really was the same show - but I suppose it had less celebrity because there really wasn't the same culture those days. Lots of guests though. Always seemed to be chatting to someone on the couch.

The banter was great. Anne & Nick is what I think when I remember TV-am. And Wincy Willis and Rusty Lee and Gordon Honeycomb.

It was less flashy but as slick.

I think you're right to say it would have evolved over the years - but that would probably amount to endless chatter about the woes Jordan and Peter Andre, and frequent quirky satellite links to Hollywood etc. Inevitable really. I don't blame GMTV for doing all that. They'd be crazy not to.

I've never warmed to GMTV in the way I did to TV-am, but I'm prepared to believe that's just rose coloured spectacles at work.

Either way, if I could be 20 again and therefore not be old enough to have ever seen it - well, that would be just fine.
