So after 220 odd pages of posts in this thread, the esteemed moderators of this board choose to keep it in the Home Forum rather than moving it to Newsroom. Says it all really. TV-am at the start would most definitely have been classified as News, GMTV regardless of whatever graphic changes are imposed will still be tabloid 'journalism' at it's best.
Maybe making an offer to Matthew Wright to bring 'The Wright Stuff' to GMTV would improve it's performance.
Maybe if it was a news programme you'd have a point.

.... but it is advertised as a news programme primarily, at least for the first two and a half hours.
The first hour is the only bit advertised as news. GMTV Today is always advertised as news, current affairs and showbiz. Lets remember GMTV is a channel, not a programme, so discussion for Lorraine Kelly, Toonattik etc also goes in here and might look slightly out of place in the news forum.
The logo's look like they've been made in powerpoint 2007!!! Someone will do a mock soon and it will look exactly the same!!! MOst of there changes will be for the best but I am struggling with the logo, and how it turns flat after being 3d. Doesn't make sense!!! And I think it's a bit confusing how the break bumpers don't seem to have a 3d logo.Quite inconsistent. This is the first time I want GMTV to change it back, but this time i don't think they will!!!
The previous news sting was a big hit with everyone on here, now it has no resemblance what so ever!!
I agree with you on the News sting, the fact that the music of the News Logo before the change fitted into the graphics, but now it just doesn't work. Some things will change, just don't fix what doesn't need fixing GMTV!

I s'pose it isnt really a case of don't fix... as GMTV were always going to do this, first it was postponed to Easter and them september so it was always going to happen. just a shame we all loved the basic stuff!!
Really?! Just 24 hours ago people were wetting themselves with over-excitement due to the "better animations using VizRT, glass wipes, voice overs, extension of the new opening and ending sequences, new set, new website design at www.gm.tv, new theme music and headline beds and a new essentially fundamental look. Also smooth and slick transitions and huge technical upheavals"...
It's January 09 all over again. Everyone got hyped up and then they were disappointed when it came. GMTV didn't make a song and dance, they didn't mention a difference, so there isn't really a reason to be disappointed because it's not what you expected.
I've got mixed opinions on the things that they've introduced. I quite like how the menu integrates with the live shots, something that Sky News uses very well. The top of the hour voice over is quite nice, but sounds a bit weak, especially when you compare it to the sky news one, it's as though she's whispering their names.
I'm not sure about the way in which the logo animates at the end of titles. I think it's the bubbled look that they've added to the logo rather than keeping the front flat & raising the letters, which creates a weird changeover of logo before it animates. If they're going to do it, maybe have the logo rotate to the side and have the side of the logo as a wipe - that could then reappear/shrink to create the clock - maybe this again is a bit ott.
The name astons work well, I'm still not a fan of the blue though, much prefer the orange tones. I do like the new 2 way screen, and the background used is lovely.
One thing that does annoy me is continual use of the old News Hour backing for website.
I'm sure that this is just the start of them using the new kit, and I'm sure that they will keep testing things until they're happy, at least it will keep it fresh.

I cant remember anyone being dissapointed in january?
People were disappointed in Jan, because everyone was so looking forward to it but it wasn't what they expected.
if you read posts from earlier in this forum, you will find a lot of positive things about the january revamp, making up the majority. although I agree with you that there was some disappointment especially before the studio was relit!
