Intresting to see that the old 0600 newshour bit was presented by Richard Gaisford and Penny Smith and the old 0700 GMTV today bit is Presented by Ben Shepard and Penny Smith.

Also there was a TOTH Ident played out at 08:35 this morning.

Why is that 'interesting'? That's all happened before, including the TOTH ident being played at 08:35.

Well Iv never noticed the 0835 TOTH Ident played before, when was it last used at that time?

I've definately seen it on the Friday shows at that time before, I think it's there because that's obviously when the titles for Lorraine would normally start

Was very disappointed to note GMTV didn't report on the three fisherman who died off Ardnamurchan Point yesterday. It was reported by the BBC as one of their main stories this morning. Although I do find GMTV's network coverage of events north of the border almost non-existent.

GMTV Is still awful. I caught a bit this morning while they were sensationlising Swine Flue. The general gist seemed to be "How come America isn't over-reacting like we are?" Rolling Eyes

Yes I do think GMTV is going over the top about Swine Flu -- They seem to have gone too far about it. If they were mad enough they would make a special Swine flu help and advice show over Lorraines slot and leave GMTV with ''normal news and Interviews'' before 8.35. Hereing swine flu every 10 minuites can get booring. Rolling Eyes

Perhaps they've been taking notes from ITV News.

I saw that segment. I'm not sure it was quite that bad.

They really made two points - one that the US media haven't covered the pandemic in recent weeks, perhaps months. As a result the public there seem to think it has "gone away" - certainly from the vox pops they used in the piece.

The other suggestion was that Americans heeded the advice from the get-go, in terms of good hygiene, washing their hands and using anti-bac cleansers.

Personally I find the latter very hard to believe.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, GMTV's "entertainment correspondent" was unable to offer the viewers a reason for the disparity in the number of cases over here and over there.

Laughing

They are pretty ham-fisted when it comes to anything serious (ie not involving celebrity sh*te). John Stapleton makes an effort I suppose, but I do find it slightly irritating when they allow their own feelings/opinions slip out on occasion. As if we give a flying f*ck what Penny Smith thinks about swine-flu or anything else. (She's still quite cute though. Lorraine gets the cutest prize though).

I think i've made my point!

Did anyone see the funny bit from Penny this morning? Ben was saying something about where he comes from, then Penny said she was from a line of seamen, then paused for a few seconds then said other sea names. Someone in her ear must have told to say something else because it was too obvious.

He isn't. But would love to know who 'anoilyrag' is especially as I might work with him/her.

Ahhh, that would be telling. And, I doubt you do. I'm not based at TLS
