Obviously not, but BBC News, Sky News, CNN are all still using breaking news straps.
Also, this news broke at about 11pm. People waking up may not know whats happened, so it is still breaking news this morning.

GMTV Are using special Idents this morning, No theme bedding but ITV Regional News was oporated as normal with a delay to the 0810 news which was oporated at 0820.

I believe the Ident's were michael jackson ' 1958 - 2009 ' and no close theme either, just the tribute ending with people's views.

Also there wasn't any headline bedding for TOTH/Breaks

Plus at 6.37 I saw that London Today almost opted out with about 5 - 10 seconds of Breakdown Music

I thought GMTV Michael Jackson coverage was horrific. The whole show from 6 till 9.25 was purely allocated to covering the death of MJ. There was plenty of other news including the flying home of the British hostages and Farah Fawcett's death. Completely inappropriate in my eyes. It just shows that bad habits die hard and GMTV is still as celebrity endorsed as it was a few years ago. I thought the show turned a corner in 2009. I know some people want Michael Jackson shoved down their throats all day but what about people who don't?

They still had the other news on the hour and every 15 minutes.

Plus, its not just any old celebrity story, it is a pretty big one, the biggest for the last couple of years I'd say.

MJ's death is the biggest news story for several years- and many viewers probably didn't know about it till Friday morning. GMTV gets its priorities wrong a lot of the time, but on Friday their coverage was good. (The flying home of the hostages' bodies would have only been a 20 sec news story anyway- what more is there to say about it?)

On another note, Emma Crosby should now be worried about Carla Romano and how at ease she is on the sofa

Um... hello Josh205 did you not watch GMTV on the day the news broke. they didn't have any news bulletins at 15 mins 30 mins or 45 mins or even on the TOTH so now do you see my point. Penny wasn't even in that day, niether were any other news readers.

If you are talking about Thursday morning, the day the story was still relatively 'Breaking', Penny was in, she presented at 6am. There were news updates too.

If you are talking about Friday, then I didn't see GMTV that day..

The first GMTV since Michael Jackson's death was Friday Morning. He died late Thursday night (BST).

Penny and John done the 6am hour with Nick Dixon doing other news stories from the news desk.

Presenters are to get a pay cut when their contracts are renewed next month. According to the Mirror, Kate Garraway say's she will quit if this happens.

Good to see more of Ben whilst Andrew Is at Wimbledon.

I really, really don't like Garraway.

I think Kate is graet (when she isn't pregnant) In January she looked really good and her appearance and hair was emmaculate, lately she has become a bit messy and too blond!!!
Professionally, I think she is good too!
