The clock that replaced it was in the style of Channel 4's presentation at the time so it suggests that Channel 4 put it on.

Indeed, I worked for Planet24 at the time. The programme was recorded and played out from Ch4, but to add the clock it was fed down the line to Bow Studios and back to Ch4 to add the clock.
The studio was unmanned though, apart from security, so when the problem occured they took the VT directly to air and added their own clock locally.
In hindsight it would have been easier to take the 1U Miles clock generator (which I've still got) to CH4 for the week.

It was Live & Let Die.
I quite liked how they made the screen smaller, it made the studio look larger, to me anyway Smile
