It uses the same chord base as the 1993 music, that is why it puts you in mind of it.
I'm quite aware of that - I was referring to the actual arrangement of this new theme. For example the 2000 mix used the exact same chord base but doesn't remind me much of the '93 original (bar the signature motif obviously) as much as this newer arrangement does.

is actually straight out of the original 1993 opening arrangement, albiet on different instruments (listen at 0:50-1:00). The headline bed leans very heavily on the opening bars of the original 1993 arrangement.
