I agree she was the ULTIMATE professional today, really handled herself well and to be honest earned herself staus and reputation at GMTV. Its occasions like today that you realise they are so capable of handling delicate, political issues and i think the 'new' GMTV is much better equipped to do so. Well done Kate!
have to agree 100% she handled it wonderfully, she as a great career ahead of her .
saying that if those people did that in when sadam was around I dare say there would not be sitting in a TV studio!

Well i agree that was a great interview by Kate, demonstrated some very good people skills in that. I just wish people like him would realise that in Britain, the British MUST come first and the British culture MUST come first. I wouldn't move to Baghdad and then start slating it, its just not what normal folk do. If you dont like something, move on. It's actually people like him that start racial hatred in the first place.

The slight flaw in that argument is that the chap in question is British born and bred. So where do you suggest he 'move on' to?
I think GMTV did this week what other broadcasters didn't have the bollocks to do - confront an issue that is REALLY bothering the population, and giving a fair and unbiased platform to the 'other side' of the argument.
The fact that this radical has views that almost no one else shares shouldn't be a reason to censor him out of existence. It's what makes Britain GREAT.
Good on GMTV.
Right, let's get the weather from some incomprehensible women who... happens to be....oh look, in the Blue Peter garden again.

The thing is she doesnt really get the chance to speak much does she. Its like here's the weather 3 mins or so and then off again to something else, which in terms of professionalism is excellent but i do think she could interact a bit more. Clare's still got that friendly aspect to her character but Kirsty just needs to be a bit more chilled. Also she did come from the BBC so its something she wont be used to. I think the presenters need to try and involve her more though and perhaps talk to her before the weather?

I agree. GMTV could have done what the others do and bottle out so as not to cause offence but i think they have reaklly surpassed themselves this week and its testament to their new kind of 'aim'. They have shown that they are as good as any other broadcaster and they have the professional staff to cope with it. Now they are once again proving themselves to be a strong brand i think morale and ratings will go up.
As ive posted i thought Kate did an amazing job and i was impressed to see the follow up interview this morning. They're not just letting it drop adn they seem to be doing everything they can to make sure they give everyone the chance to a fair argument/say. All i can say is that GMTV is so much better since the relaunch and they want to be very proud. I know i might seem slightly over enthusiastic but at the end of the day i can now watch the news in the morning and feel that i've got a good balanced overview with professional staff/presenters. Well done GMTV!!!!!

OK, don't get ahead of yourself.
You managed to cover one sensitive issue well. Can't er imagine how er badly er Staplegun would have coped in that er interview though.
GMTV is looking a lot more professional, now - and it would be nice if they could cover every story in the depth that they gave that one.
Oh, by the way, speaking of incomprehensible, can you tell Claire to show us where the "Apache" rain is going to fall? I'm expecting the sky to be dropping Native Americans any time now.
