Is there a company that manufactures plasma screen stands which have two tubular chrome supports; there doesn't seem to be any other way to hold this sort of screen within the TV environment. Shocked

Am I right in saying that this is fad that came over from the states and in particular around the time there started to be a proliferation of early newscasts from the o&o FOX stations. They appear to think that by wheeling your plasma (and obligatory stand) in front of your news desk and have your presenters (sorry - 'talent'!) stand along side it you can instantly make your program edgier!

My particular favourite is WNYW in New York - who, not content with showing the stand also regualrly like to show off the BASE of the aforementioned stand including wheels - nice!

The brand who make that style of stand are called "Unicol".

They make standardised tubular floor stands, as well as drop-suspensions.

While the poles may be standard, the mounts to attach different types of screen are all different. Unicol seem best placed (with resources) to manufacture all the different mounts needed - and as such are the market leader.

Just a thing I thought I'd mention.

Most of you would have found out about this but still, idents.tv now has four, seemingly full length and clean BBC One Balloon idents.

There is also the national anthem ident and the podcast on itunes has some more.

All clean, full length and good audio quality.

I kinda like the way they are now trying to hide the new TV stand, Camera is more of a close-up so trying to hide the stand from aboive the tv, and the lap top trying to hide the stand from underneath the TV as well.

Didn't get to see GMTV last week but am watching this morning to see new lighting. The last I saw the news area was relit but this morning there's a more red/orange hue highlighting the 'wall' behind Penny and Ben and then the backdrop is also a darker blue too, fading to yellow at the bottom, it does make the backdrop look better in my opinion. I wonder if this is the element that will change, i do think it looks lovely at the moment but wonder if it will change when the mornings get lighter.
Looking good at the moment though!

It's changed to pink now, for GMTV with Lorraine.

Please forgive me and accept my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong thread.

With the Early Morning regional bulletins due to finish & end soon on ITV 1 I wonder wether or not ITV 1 regions will continue to bring their staff in so early just to produce the Breakfast bulletins which are only about 2-3 mins in length when the first broadcast of the day will now be at Lunchtime ?

There will be a big gap now between GMTV and Lunchtime

GMTV is a separate franchise - at least for the moment - and is legally bound to broadcast regional news bulletins.

This requirement could only be lifted if GMTV applied to Ofcom and Ofcom approved the move. So far, GMTV has done nothing which suggests they would go down that route although in the current commercial environment, I suppose nothing can be ruled out in the medium to longer term.

While GMTV sub-contracts the regional opts in Scotland and Northern Ireland to Macmillan Media - not STV and UTV - the chances are it would not do the same in England and Wales as ITVplc owns 75% of GMTV.

I noticed today that Lorraine Kelly's segment is now listed as a seperate programme on the Sky EPG - although it's still just called 'GMTV'.
