The titles are significantly improved with new music. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the old/current theme but it doesn't do the new visuals justice, it's too overbearing. I hope there's still a chance that they'll launch those in the near future.
Liking the hook at the end, but it does end a tad abruptly for my taste...
No doubt the background music bed or whatever it is called would have been played out as soon as the main theme had ended so it wouldn't have ended abruptly...
Looking at that with respect to Mario Cavalli, I'm sure one of our expert mockheads Lee or Martin etc could have done an equally superior job.
Indeed some of his work does have a very basic and almost unfinished feel. I thought I had seen that kind of animation from the title sequence before, and indeed I had, on the Bullring Birmingham TV Spots that he also designed!
Interesting find on the new music front. I do feel that the hook should have another note to end it, but maybe that's just me and my untrained musical ear, or maybe it is just the abrupt end, the tree sting sounds much better as it fades out.
Is the LIBRE dancer piece associated with GMTV as it has a similar look and feel to the music.
I think it would have felt like a fresher relaunch if they'd have stuck with the new music, but then again would it have been too far away from the GMTV brand of old?
People have criticised the set, but what changes would you have made?
I think I would have moved around parts of the studio to make it feel like relaunch rather than keeping the same layout.
I do agree with Whataday about the timing issue, maybe it would have been worth leaving it until January 12th, and have had this week in a temporary studio.
