I agree about the Lorraine thing. I don't see any problem with merging Newshour and GMTV Today because both were quite similar and both were just referred to as GMTV anyway but I don't like "GMTV with Lorraine". They should have just left LK Today alone (titles, music etc) but presented it from the main sofa area.
I really don't see the problem over the amount of news though. I mean before a lot of people were complaining about there not being enough news in the Newshour, and now theres too much

Because people aren't watching a rolling news channel, so do they really need an update of the headlines every 15 minutes? I would imagine more people watch GMTV from 6am than ITV Morning News so it's fine to broadcast news, and you can't really pick and choose which stories you broadcast (so the news is going to be very similar no matter what outlet you receive it from) but they don't need headlines that regularly!
The news every 15min is only seen as more news i guess as its highlighted by the news presenter reading the main headlines, which before this year the main presenters would just roll off the top stories before going to a break.
I think I'll give this a little longer to grow on me. But my first impressions are that the new set looks a bit 'MFI', and that everything generally looks a bit cheaper than before.
Good to see Mr Motivator back with Lorraine, though!

What I'm trying to say is that in the GMTV
News
hour people were saying there wasn't enough news, thats all. I agree the updates aren't needed every 15 minutes considering the length of the bulletins anyway, meaning that there isn't actually much of GMTV itself, but I don't get how there can be too much news on a news orientated programme. But it gets a bit daft if they overdo it from 7-8.35am.
But as with all revamps its day 1 and it needs time to bed in and adjust, so lets not judge it properly just yet!
GMTV needs new some new management. If what we saw this morning is the culmination of months of planning, then it's time for all of them to move on. An opportunity wasted.
Is the new look GMTV still in Studio 5 at the London Studios, as I have heard that they now split the show between two studios. Would this be Studio 5 and 7?

Do you know what the aim was? If not, how can you possibly say they've failed?

You heard wrong. The whole programme still comes from Studio 5.
When will these "Oh gosh, I'm so disappointed" comments end!
From what I've seen of it, the (much needed) refresh is quite nice. Despite what others have said, I don't mind that they've kept the same music... it would have been far too different without the familiar signature music. New music retaining the five-note motif would be welcome, though. The titles are alright, if a bit different to what we're used to.
Now, to what I don't like. I'm not keen on the odd-looking bespoke font used for the "NEWS" sting. I like the set, but it does look slightly cheaper than before and looks as if it's missing something - like a few pot plants. Not keen on the backdrop either, but I suppose it'll grow on me.
