Time-lapse video of the new set construction...

Overall, I'm impressed with it - hope they ditch the news updates at .15 and .45 though during the first few hours; I don't see the need for them. The set is alright I suppose... I'm sure I'll get used to it after a while!

nasty GMTV with Lorraine titles, with the old GMTV Today music.

And from news every 15 mins to having no news since 8?!?! Could of at least had an update at 8.30

Was it just me, or did the sting music then seem deeper?

Same with news sting.

Not too keen on the modified GMTV Today title music for the GMTV with Lorraine titles... sounds as though someone has gone mad with a hammer towards the end! Neutral

So did ITV let them start early or is their clock slow?

The handover was just a second early, that's all. It happens quite frequently.

What a dreadful new look GMTV has today.

I couldn't believe it. Their old set looked much better and nicely placed than the brash set they have now and what a terrible city backdrop.

They should have done a much better job. I do not see what all the fuss was about this relaunch.

People on here on the mock designs would have done far much better.

Right, the positives:

The set isn't a complete disaster. It's retained its GMTV cosiness whilst still looking relatively modern. Ditto the news and weather stations.
The news sting looks good, if a bit STV.

Now for the bad news. It's not that I hate the new titles, astons, etc. but there's very little to like about them. Focusing on the new titles, the old music could be holding them back. It isn't a good fit and I am bemused by the decision to relaunch with the same signature theme (unless the new theme is still planned to be launched later). Taking this into account, there's still nothing ground breaking or even remotely interesting about the titles and the integration of the GMTV logo is particularly lacklustre. There's so much they could have done with the new logo but they've opted for a glorified fade in.

Again, I don't despise the new astons but there's nothing special about them either; yes they're neat and simple but they're also flat and boring and don't complement the new 3D styled GMTV logo at all.

I think my problem is that I actually really liked the old look. Yes it had been in use in some form or another since '93 but it still looked fresh, the animation still looked swish and generally it still looked bang up to date.

Don't be fooled though, I too was of the opinion that it was time for a change and I was fully prepared to give the new look a chance and not be swayed by nostalgia. Sadly I just can't take any real positives from it. I'm sorry, but it feels like they've gone backwards.

Although the new look isn't a catastrophe by any stretch it's not the relaunch I was hoping for. Just more of the same...only not as well presented!
