I'd have thought Lorraines old place would have been the best. I think it will give a lot more freedom for interviews and also seroius content. Anoilyrag did say that the news was staying in studio 5.

I did say earlier, it's in Lorraine's area. Just to clarify, a NEW presentation area has been built on another floor which gives a similar view to the old London Tonight. Not sure what this is for now.

replacing the backdrop with a Hi-res London

Will this be a screen print type image as now or Barco style screens with the image on them?

print, NOT barco

If it was barcos then getting them installed in such a short period would be very ambitious - didn't it take about a week to get them into TC7?

A lot longer than a week.

And who cares if the backdrop isn't a screen? It would be a bit extravagant for something which is essentially a still image.

Very true, was just using them as an example in my question.

Kate ended todays programme by saying "we will see you on Monday with a brand new set". Another thing i noticed today was when coming back from an ad break they used a camera on a jig(?) moving and zooming towards the sofa, could they have been trying this out for next week?

IIRC they did this alot in the summer holidays. I think someone on here said they were trying new things out as Fiona's husband wasnt there. I think it's a nice idea, but it lasts too long. And the cameraman had obviously been told to do it last minute.

It lasted longer this morning due to the longer late 90's Christmas sting that they're using rather than the old GMTV Today sting which it worked well with in my opinion. I wonder what we will get on Monday. Part of me wishes that they would move everything around, though I'm guessing the sofa, etc will stay in the same place, but everything will be new and shiny. I wonder if the new set will have any gimmicks such as the last set had the LED lights which for the first week or so flashed at the top of the hour and at the end of GMTV Today.

Will what is the newshour now just simply be GMTV Today with different presenters (if you get what I mean now that the names don't stand will it be every hour the same) or will 6-7 take on a more newsy output than 7-8.35?
Could it actually be possible to host the first hour from a news desk?
How will they hand over to Lorraine if she's using the same sofa?

If Lorraine is using the same sofa, i guess the current presenters would have her on the couch saying what is coming up and then go to a break. Well that seems like the simple thing to do.

I am looking foward to the relaunch, a long time coming.

I would have thought so unless they do still say here's lorraine and then they go to the main ident and a sting for Lorraine that would give them time to get off the sofa and Lorraine to get on. I too am looking forward to this and can i just say to certain people STOP HAVING A GO AT ANOILYRAG i second what has been said - he isnt an insider but never has he claimed to be. He is doing us all a favour and letting us know inside gossip and i think i speak for most when i say i am grateful. Ok he made one mistake about the studio being ripped out but flipping heck its hardly the crime of the century!! I just think we need to chill out a bit and remember that this is a friendly forum. Happy New Year!

If you mean having her on the sofa with the presenters that would be difficult on the days Lorraine's show is pre-recorded.

We won't have to wait much longer then all the curiosity and uncertainty will stop. Then we can wait for all the comments, opinions and criticisms on here.

Just make sure you set your alarm clocks on Monday.
