Remember the days at the start of each programme at 7am when the presenter used to announce " Good morning, Your watching GM TV, with Eamon Holmes & Fiona Philips "

I wonder wether or not any announcements like that will return with the revamp ? At the time I personally thought that these announcements were really good & professional sounding ! I can't understand why they were stopped ? Or would someting like this seem old fashioned to do do you think nowadays ?

I also used to like the opening shot where the cameras used to slide back after the opening sequences & you used to get a wide shot of the GM TV studio ! I wonder wether this would return ?

What do TV Forum Members think ?

anoilyrag can you answer any of these questions?
Also i was looking at a tv guide yesterday and for a broadcast in mid jan it said there was childrens programming? true or just misinformation?

On a different note i am so glad that the actual font of the logo hasn't changed too much i was looking at the previous logo 2000 i think and it looked really weird - a bit amateur but the current and new looks great. Can't wait for monday's big reveal!

With a new look starting on Monday, I wonder if they will keep the newshour?

I have checked my Sky EPG and from 6.00-9.25 it just says GMTV unlike now, where they indicate the newshour, gmtv today etc.

I wish they would bring more news to the new look with more regional bulletins. BBC Breakfast has local news every half hour and GMTV should have a similar pattern.

According to anoilyrag, the seperate shows are staying but its all going to be under 1 name, so there will still be Newshour, GMTV Today and LK Today but all under one name. I know LK Today is going to be renamed GMTV with Lorraine Kelly, well thats what the TV guides say anyway. That makes sense though, I mean if people ever speak about GMTV (even in the media), its never "GMTV Newshour" or "GMTV Today", its always just "GMTV".

Apparently there is going to be a more confident approach to the news which suggests we won't be getting "new research suggests ...". I think it should go a little more newsy, but at the same time it should still not take itself seriously and still run current affairs and entertainment items. Not everyone wants to wake up to hard hitting depressing news!

There is nothing to say whos presenting on Monday so it will be interesting to see if Kate does have the top job after all or if it will be Emma.

well that would make sense because you are right it is only referred to as GMTV but the thing i want to know is whether or not there will be stings etc to introduce the show maybe something like a generic GMTV but with names of presenters?? GMTV with John Stapleton and Penny Smith or something. Maybe a bit tacky though but surely they cant just have one ident at the beginning and nothing else all through can they?

Should call the first hour "GMTV First Edition" or something, as its never a hour of news.

Or they could not, because GMTV will just do fine and also that's a silly name.

From what i remember the presenter announcements didn't last long. Think it would be a bit too formal to put that back.

They'll probably still do three top of the hours (6am, 7am, 8am) so that should break up the programme enough. The presenters names might also appear on screen, I'm sure they used to do that at one point.

I was just saying that, as "newshour" never really went did it? It was similar to GMTV Today with competitions and "today" features.

I wonder wether or not today ( Wednesday ) or Friday will be the last day that we see the GM TV set in it's current form ?

Or do you think any presenters will mention on scrren anything like " This is the last time that you'll see us in this studio etc " ?

Friday is the usual Newshour/Today mix, so there is little reason to think it won't be coming from the current set.

They're not moving from Studio 5 - just having a facelift. As the listings magazines are describing Monday's programme as the 'new look GMTV' then I doubt they'll miss the opportunity to mention it on Friday.

Andrea Maclean left today. She seemed very popular with her colleagues. It will be interesting to see if there are any weather changes apart from the presenter
( and GMTV logo) as they had an update in September.
