Well well, interesting reactions so far. Will be fun to see the jaws drop on Jan 5th.

it'll be a change from seeing the ratings drop.

Relevant 8 months ago. GMTV has been outperforming BBC break again lately. During the Mumbai bombings, more people watched GM than Breakfast. Or to put it another way - the worlds smallest newsgatherer beat the worlds largest.
Knock GM by all means, but it does achieve targets and upset rivals while having a little fun in the morning. Night night.

I believe more people were watching the GMTV newsbelt than the BBC on that one particular day. Prog vs prog, the BBc got the higher ratings.

Otherwise, GMTV has not been outperforming BBC Breakfast in any way. On no day in 2008 has GMTV (0600-0925) beaten Breakfast (0600- 0915) in audience or share.

Well according to the overnight ratings for Christmas Day 1.3 million (41.2%) watched Breakfast and 0.2 million (5.0%) watched GMTV. Out of the top 100 rating programmes that day Breakfast was 34th and GMTV was 91st. Sorry these figures couldn't be for a normal day, but they don't usually get reported. However Breakfast seems to round about its normal figure, where as GMTV isn't.

Was GMTV still in it's usual home this morning? I wasn't up early enough today to see it.

From what I saw this morning it just seemed to be a normal set up, although the Emma Crosby and co promo was ran several times.

I wonder wether or not with all the changes due to happen shortly if the Local News will still be coming from ITV Regional News or from companies from outside of ITV like STV / Ulster do ?.

It was mentioned earlier in the year in a press release from GM TV that their were going to be changes to the Local News providers on GM TV

I noticed this morning when the camera spun round from the sofa to the performance area, that LK Today's sofa/coffee table etc was gone, replaced with christmas trees, though the set wall was still their. The stage for the performances was taken out, with a black flooring for the male tap-dancers just put over the studio floor. But I don't think it was just for them.. Possibly for the changes?

LK Today furniture was removed after her last broadcast of the year to make way for things like the Christmas Eve programme (where everyone was trying to Dance). The flooring that was put down this morning was purely for the tap dancers so there shoes would be heard.

With a new look starting on Monday, I wonder if they will keep the newshour?

I have checked my Sky EPG and from 6.00-9.25 it just says GMTV unlike now, where they indicate the newshour, gmtv today etc.

I wish they would bring more news to the new look with more regional bulletins. BBC Breakfast has local news every half hour and GMTV should have a similar pattern.
