Thats pointless.
Not really. GMTV's predecessor, TV-am, always had a separate news presentation area. In later years of TV-am, they even had a separate news intro, which I think worked very well.
It would help GMTV a lot if they ultimately did follow TV-am's example and separately intro'd the news bulletins.

The Big Breakfast never had a problem with the communication between newsreader and presenter via a TV screen, then again GMTV don't have a problem communicating with someone, such as a reporter not in the studio, the question is will they.

Very true considering the BB came from Lockeepers Cottages and the news came from ITN at Grays Inn Road.

Exactly. Even if its in a different studio, the make up room, or wherever they do the news updates, they could always fake it so that the presenters and news reader look off camera as though they are in the same studio.
Will the weather updates be affected and be moved out of the studio? Am I right in saying that the current weather updates are done from in front of a simple chromakey cloth rather than having something reared projected?

Yeah, you can often see the greenscreen when they are doing performances.

And when they used to have the wide shot at the top of the hour.

It's out of context. The giant bar at the London studios is now called Starbucks by the staff, because it doesn't have an official name, but does have a Starbucks coffee-counter in it.

The segments as you know them are changing
Is it just basically going to turn into one big show with different presenters presenting in the same time slots, but all under one show name? If it is then that makes sense. People don't refer to GMTV Newshour as its name, likewise with GMTV Today. People just say "GMTV". The only bit that manages to escape that is LK Today.
