You don't need an insider for that, they'll be 'finishing' on Christmas Eve like they always do

sarky gont......
Will it be on the first like last year i meant!... Rolling Eyes

and the reason i asked when they finish is if they relaunch in the new year, would the finish a few days earlier to get some work done with the set (depending on the size of the resesign)

and air what exactly in the interim?

If they need to be out of the studio, they would use a temporary setting somewhere else

Usually the refurb takes place over the weekend IIRC. Probably will be the same amount of time, I expect there will be no need for weeks of construction - I doubt they will be getting any type of newswall installed, probably just the usual stuff - wood and furniture!

I really hope with this relaunch (and maybe anoilyrag can help with this) that the 'template' of the set is changed. Over the last few years, each new set has kept the same style. Sofa in the left corner, weather/news to the right, LK down the bottom and the very cramped performance area in the other corner. Theres also that other stupid entrance just next to the sofa on the left hand side, which is hardly ever used.

I wonder if the theme tune is getting a remix aswell?

I also read SOMEWHERE (i'll post the link when i find it) that they will be upgrading to AVID editing suites next year too...

and will they be sorting the opt problems out (they havent been as bad lately but still...)?

Quote:
GMTV shareholder ITV - which owns 75% - and Disney, with the remaining 25% stake, have also agreed to an investment of £4.5m on new equipment, including Avid editing suites, to modernise production of the show, which runs live from studios at the London Television Centre at South Bank.

In terms of set, as of today it's out with the old, in the with the new, but there are real physical constraints in studio 5 - such as the low ceiling and debilitating lighting rig.
The music as you know it is gone, there is a new signature theme.

The old set will be out, and the new one in and lit in the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of January

So basically, the most familiar aspects of GMTV which have always worked well... the brand and theme.. are going to be ditched, and yet the completely bland and dull rosta of presenters is staying?

When will they realise that their problem is not the set, it's not the music, it's not any aspect of their branding which is a switch off, it's their presenters!

People do not sit down with their toast and watch a good half hour of GMTV... they have it on in the background whilst frantically getting ready for work. They don't even notice if the titles have been given a new shade of blue and gold. All they pay attention to is the presenter who is interviewing Kerry Katona, or the newsreader whos telling them Woolies has gone under.. because they dont have time for anything else.

If they brought a fresh team in, they wouldnt have to spend money on lavish new sets and shiny new logos. In fact it would probably save them money, giving them a lower wage bill.

Only presenter worth keeping on GMTV... Lorraine Kelly. She's a breakfast icon who has managed to stay consistant, yet fresh and she's even lower maintenance with the ability to record her shows to save live studio time.
