I noticed that too. It was strange though and Penny said 'sorry' to the gallery as if she had misheard something. Then she handed straight to the local news. As for Kate she has effectively taken Fiona's job hasnt she. she is the main anchor for the shpw. i just hope GMTV dont alienate the viewers

No that is not what i am saying at all. What i mean is that you can change something so much that it becomes unrecognisable and then you have a problem because you lose the audience. I am 100% for GMTV having a major overhaul but you have got to remember this is breakfast tele and people dont always want serious news 24/7. It needs to get back to the place it was at 5 years ago or so when it was winning awards and had some authority but that doesn't necessarily come from a replacement.

That isn't what people are saying. When people refer to a new look, they are referring to the set, the graphics and the content. With new looks on GMTV, they are all relatively similar, e.g. there has nearly always been a sofa in front of a window frame with the news desk and weather board to one side of the set. That is what GMTV is known for and it can be recognised by a friendly atmosphere within the few different segments around the studio. But by making it unrecognisable e.g. weather on the other side of the studio and Penny in a different studio altogether, GMTV just becomes unrecognisable and in a bad way. It will feel very disjointed as the presenters won't be able to interact with presenters of the next segment in the studio and small things make a massive difference to the overall feel of a show.

I love this thread, for years people have said GMTV needs a new look, now they are having one, you wish it would stay the same
This is why all new looks revert back to the previous look a few days later

ISTR that the original set in 1993 was quite different. They used a desk for the first hour or so which was more news-oriented and there were chairs rather than a sofa.
When they changed to the current layout it just reminded me of TV-am, which was probably the intention.
