What?
OK folks, this bit of useless drivel I threw in a few weeks ago was a joke, for subtle humour. I knew all along it was GMTV (the individual letters).
I still think Gumtuv sounds better though, don't you?

Well GMTV appears to have given up "covering" the financial crisis. Between 700 and 730 after the news, their main story was....jellyfish. A few minutes later and they were back doing...baked potatoes.
Absolute rubbish. And they think this is what people want.

What's the matter, has your finger broken? Or is it your remote?

It's a step forward not the end. I wouldn't really expect anything less from GMTV though.

This has been the problem with GMTV for the last 2-3 years. It ditches the serious stuff at the first opportunity in favour of what we saw this morning. And their financial stuff with Stapleton in the last few weeks has been good.
Either of those lighter items on their own would have been bearable (neither were very good). But both? And to lead on one of them at 0710? It's poor.
GMTV has totally lost the formula that made it good (until about 2004)..so I don't understand why people are defending it.

Why is she still doing reports for the show even now?
The films on The One Show are usually commissioned from independent production companies and BBC in-house departments, with only the shorter daily topical films made by the core The One Show production team.
The daily team will have had little-or-nothing to do with MK and the filming of the reports.
I think 'anoilyrag' has overstated things as well.

Interesting, I know the producers of the One Show, and they couldn't wait to get shot of MK.

True. Although I expect even thick GMTV viewers are interested enough in this for them to spend at least 10-15 minutes or so covering it at the top of the hour?.

Was it covered in the news bulletin itself?
Going on and on about the financial crisis all morning is probably becoming a turn off to many viewers

RE. GMTV - the show has become a complete disaster. There are no key presenters with personality to carry the crappy filler features - watch any brekkie show anywhere in the world and there is an 'Eamon Holmes' type character with a Lorraine side kick. The features are clearly ill-planned and thrown together by one reporter and one editor the night before. The presenters don't seem interested. The studio is looking small, cheap and slightly tatty. It's a DISASTER! This is why they've drafted in consultants to radically overhaul things. The problem is I don't think even the best consultant to transform the shows fortunes!
Re. MK on the One Show - no-one is overstating the matter. It's a fairly poorly kept secret that MK went on maternity leave and was covered by Christine. Producers, and viewers, preffered Christine, so they told MK to sling her hook! She should stick to piano playing frankly.
