I feel like Ben and Kate would be much more suited to hosting a permanent GMB Today than the first few hours of GMB. There's more room for their relationship to come across on screen and it would allow 6-8:30 to remain a bit heavier on news 5 days a week as opposed to just Monday to Wednesday, with the end of the week feeling a bit diluted. I struggle to imagine Ben appearing 5 days a week though.

So Kate Garraway will be taking yet more time off presenting her Midmorning show on Smooth Radio to host this regularly? If so, somethings got to give.
A bit like Lorraine on Lorraine, Kate Garraway seems to seldom present her show on Smooth Radio these days.

It's only on for two weeks isn't it? Hardly regular.
Thought the extension show was good, but overdosed too much on Richard Arnold. It's a wonder they didn't give this show to him, as I know he had his own show at GMTV for a while, but it didn't last?
Still don't seem much point in taking Lorraine off for two weeks, unless they have bigger plans for the future. Maybe Lorraine will be cut on a Friday and replaced by this if it works out?

The Grey Chairs in the performance area must be new. Have they been used on GMB before?

From what I saw I don't understand the necessity for the change in branding. Similarly to breakfast, they could have continued with regular GMB branding but lighter features sponsoring any individual features like entertainment news, music, food features (of they were to be included). Presumably the seperate branding is for the schedules to measure figures on a like to like basis against Lorraine.

There's definitely room for GMB Today. I liked it. Just not keen on JK. Sometimes he's ok but he didn't give Isla a chance to speak today. It might work better with Ben and Kate or of course Piers and Susanna. Would prefer if they kept original branding too or just the same theme music.

Considering for 7 years Lorraine hasn't presented her show for about 10-12 weeks every year it's long over due looking for another brand to fill the gap when she's on holiday. Probably not worth it for half term but really surprised they didn't try this for the full summer period she was off.
