Not a surprise with Zoe Ball loosing listeners.
If you employ someone with a successful track record of loosing listeners at Breakfast time, as Radio One was in freefall whilst she was at the helm, then promote the new Radio Two show with a very visually aggressive tone eventually the rot sets in.

I’m not saying it’s surprising she’s losing listeners. Just that there can’t be many pop music radio stations where the mid-morning slot does better than Breakfast.

Heart Breakfast figures will take effect on the next quarter.

Got a bit of an oddity going on locally that works pretty well.

Heart are sponsoring Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival. Between events/live music acts on the main stage the PA system is playing music.

The genius thing is that they are playing Heart jingles and sweepers between each track. It sounds annoyingly slick.

kmfm round these parts have seen an increase but it'll be interesting when the full quarter national Heart results come out to see if many have "made the switch" as they called it.

I think Chris Evans had a similar listener churn when he started, it's a natural thing to happen. Just as long as it's doesn't keep declining. Agree with Jon's comment - isn't breakfast *the* slot for the most listeners to a station? Are there many examples where another routinely beats the people they've got on at breakfast? A touch embarrassing...well as embarrassing as it can be for the most listened to station. Smile

Nice to see R1 doing well, and not having to wheel our their 'we've got lots of YouTube subscribers' logic this time.

Isn't radio basically reach rather than an average, so I guess you'd expect Breakfast to reach a wider audience but for only relatively short periods, whilst daytime shows tuned in as the works radio will be more consistent across the slot but probably have a lower reach.

As someone who knows Global really well and has insider knowledge, they are a bloody joke. Getting rid of the local stations not only proved to be a detrimental failure but now their two biggest stations will have low audience figures in Q3.

Sounds like Ashley Tabor did something to upset you.

If Radio 2 was sounding older than it currently is, Ken Bruce would be a shoe-in for Breakfast. His show seems to be the remaining enclave of the 'old' Radio 2 in daytime where he has genial delivery and a regular must listen feature in Popmaster, even if the music has changed, the format of his show hasn't.

Not so much Ashley, more the school I graduated from, you know, the one that Global owns.

Did they sack all the tutors and begin delivering the lessons remotely from hundreds of miles away?

Imagine how different TV might be if BARB only reported ratings every three months.

Haha no, that would be funny though.
