Isn't the news as local as it ever was, I thought that was the deal for allowing to network 21 hours a day? So even though the new "local" programming is across the ITV regions, the news bulletins still match the original FM licence? (I may have got that wrong but I was sure the Myers report made news the key bit that remained local)

I'm not sure. I have never listened so I don't know how local the news is, I know it's been 'hubbed' for many years, so one site doing news for multiple stations.

I had no idea that was a thing. I know he acted a bit in Rock Profile (Jamie's finest work IMHO)... but he was in a sitcom?

I think he did a fair bit of acting in his "sabbatical" between R1 and Heart. Mad About Alice got ripped to pieces, it was so bad. Moyles had just started on Radio 1 Breakfast when it was on and played the theme tune a lot.

Agree he was superb in Rock Profile though, I liked him a lot more after that.

Well quite. Plus I am pretty sure Zoe Ball’s announcement said she’d be getting 10-12 weeks holiday a year, which is the same as the school break?

Somehow I’m not sure the holidays were the only thing stopped this from happening?

It's now nearly 8000 comments, and unless you've got time to read every single comment and reply, it's impossible to say exactly how many are positive or negative. There may be a few positives buried amongst all the negatives.

Meanwhile in New York, one of its longest running and most well known radio stations WPLJ closed last night. It's new owners turning it into a contemporary Christian station last night at 7.

Here is a YouTube video with the final moments of WPLJ as a commercial run station as well as the first seconds of the new format as "K-Love" which is syndicated out of California.

The station also received an on-air tribute from TM Studios, who made jingles for them

And the first on-air segment from K-Love acknowledging the new stations, including WPLJ

When you said YouTube video, I thought you meant a video!

I assume someone there would have filmed it or at least taken some photos, but I've not seen any yet
