If Scott's ratings hold steady there is no way BBC will let him go.
I think even Trevor Nelson has been Radio 2'd now.
Others have suggested somewhere like Heart would be a better fit for Scott Mills than Radio 2 and I tend to agree. Bringing Chris Stark in obviously extended his Radio 1 career but surely his days are numbered.

In the same way they didn’t let Evans or Mair go ?

Chris Moyles’ ratings remained healthy, but they got rid of him simply because he was attracting too old a demographic for Radio 1.
I guess the difference with Scott Mills is that there are still places at the BBC for him to go, notably Radio 2 (if they can find him a slot) whereas Moyles was really at a dead end at the corporation.
As for the idea of Scott Mills going to Heart, personally, I can’t see him fitting in with their happy-clappy, un-ironic presentational style.

I think JKDerry was using "let him go" in its euphemistic form to imply sacking. I think both Evans and Mair left of their own choice?

Yes although he was offered another slot on Radio 1, which he declined. He wouldn't have fitted in anywhere else on the BBC, it was a shame for him that he couldn't carry his audience over to another show as easily as Evans has.
Yes and short 'one thought' links, although I'm surprised how much leeway Moyles gets at Radio X for doing his long links and features, although I don't think he does a music free first half hour like he did at 1

Yes, both left with better offers. So 'let go' could be as in they let them leave. Which of course they didn't really have much choice over, the BBCs pockets aren't as deep as Murdoch and Global's

Global has changed its mind and will retain Smooth's regional breakfast shows, while drivetime will go national instead. The new networked drivetime show will be hosted by Angie Greaves who has been poached from Magic.

“At Global, we pride ourselves on doing the right thing for the long term, no matter what. After further consideration and listening to more feedback, both internal and external, we came to the conclusion that keeping Breakfast local, and taking Drive national, is actually the right fit for Smooth. Yes it’s a change in strategy for Smooth, but we believe it’s the right one. We are absolutely delighted to welcome one of the nation’s most successful AC radio presenters, Angie Greaves, to host the brand-new show.”
